About a month ago I went on vacation to the beautiful Dominican Republic and though I wasn’t able to shoot much while I was there, I made it a point to capture some of my looks when I returned for the blog. I’m sure we all can agree that floral prints are pretty much a staple during the Spring and Summer months, so it was no surprise that I had to bring at least one patterned piece with me to paradise. Unlike the usual florals I tend to gravitate towards, there was something about this Hawaiian inspired top that I just couldn’t pass up. The vibrant inidgo background color really made the white flowers and yellow details pop, so I knew this piece had to remain the focal point of the look. While I could’ve gone in many directions when styling this outfit, I chose to keep the bottom half more subtle with a black pleated mini skirt that provided a bit movement and texture. Personally, I absolutely love basics with any kind of extra detail that makes it a tad more eye-catching than what’s to be expected. In efforts to increase the effortless island feels, I tied up the shirt in the front and threw on my yellow platform sandals for a bit of extra spice. During this entire shoot, I couldn’t stop spinning and moving around so that the playfulness of the ensemble was really captured on camera. For accessories I only chose to reach for my classic aviators since for me, less is always more especially when it comes to dressing up in the blazing hot temperatures. After doing a trial run during my trip, I was so happy to come back and re-shoot this look. Let me know your favorite types of looks to style while on vacation in the comments below. Until next time!

Yellow has become one of the trendiest colors when looking to add a POP of interest to any outfit. Whether with bold pieces or subtle accessories, it’s never difficult to find a place for this banana shade. I’ve rounded up some of the yellow pieces below that I wouldn’t mind adding to my own personal wardrobe. Don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks! Until next time!

While it is super exciting to finally begin to shoot more “Spring-appropriate” pieces, the current temperatures on the East Coast are still a little brisk at times. In all honestly, I was fully prepared to shoot this look without the outer layer but on second thought, and with a co-sign from my photographer, I realized that the coat actually added another element of dimension and interest to the outfit. I haven’t dabbled much into the print-mixing trend but this last minute change allowed me to do just that! I found that it is much easier to mix prints when they have a common base color; in this instance, black. In my opinion, the plaid against the floral print perfectly represented the seasonal transitions. Both prints were also neutral enough to allow me to incorporate yet another trend which is the pop of yellow. Aside from this cross-body bag bringing out the yellow stripe in the plaid print, the gold hardware also matched that of my coat as well. I absolutely love how this look came together and how each piece complimented something in the other. I’ve had these completely bleached cream colored jeans for a few years now and I still find endless new ways to incorporate them into my wardrobe, especially as we approach the warmer months. There’s something about the color that adds a unique quality to any outfit and definitely emphasized the flowers on my top more than I think a regular pair of blue jeans would have. To finish off the look I kept it minimal with my favorite (and only) pair of black mules. I’m going to step out on limb and say that this look might actually be a new favorite, but let me know what you think in the comments below. Until next time!

I’ve been noticing a HUGE trend involving primary colors over the last few months. For me, this was not something I could really ever see myself partaking in as I tend to gravitate towards darker, more neutral tones. That said, I purchased these trousers during my fashion week preparation and thought that they would be a nice statement piece to wear to a few shows. As it turns out I ended up loving them, and after being captured wearing them on a few different street-style blog sites(here), I knew I had to style them for a post of my own. Because these trousers are SO bright, I wanted to keep them as the focal point of the look. This is not to say that you can’t pair them with other vivid pieces, but I wanted to keep the look authentic to my personal style. To keep things fairly casual, I paired the trousers with my medium blue chambray top. I thought the combination of these garments really made for a nice transitional Spring look with a tailored flare. For a bit of dimension, I added a lace bralet underneath the top and had the shirt unbuttoned about half way to expose the delicate details. I continued to play off of the black stripe detail on the pants and added a light over-sized cardigan for some added movement. To accessorize, I opted for my frequently used leather quilted purse and my sleek heeled booties for a bit of height. Though fairly minimal, I was quite pleased with how this turned out. With a peachy-nude lip and my gold aviator frames, I was ready for an outdoor brunch with friends or a chic business meeting. I hope you guys enjoyed this look and let me know what you think of the primary color trend in the comments below. Until next time!

If you haven’t heard the term “culotte” at least once in the last 6 months, it is quite possible that you may be residing under a rock. Though used to describe many different types of garments throughout history, currently the term is used in reference to a style of trousers, usually cropped, with extremely wide flared legs. They come in a variety of styles and fabrics and have without a doubt taken the fashion world by storm lately. In efforts to slowly ease myself into the bold trend, I decided to start with a jumpsuit version. For starters, they require less effort to style and who doesn’t love a good jumpsuit?! The silhouette of the garment as well as the vibrant color made for an easily eye catching look that was perfect for the season. To keep the focus on the jumpsuit, I chose to complete the look with strappy nude heeled sandals. So tell me your thoughts on this trend. Love it, hate it?
