I think we all know by now that most “trends” are not original. Almost everything has been done before, and eventually they all come back around in some form or capacity with each new decade. That said, some textiles are absolute classics that will return every year without fail; one of my all time favorites being, denim. For as long as I’ve been shopping on my own, I’ve always maintained a sizeable collection of jeans but this year, like the cargo trend, it seems to have exploded in a way that even I have been shocked by. Forget the Canadian tuxedo, head-to-toe denim looks including bags, shoes, and even jewelry can be seen all over the concrete runways and the fashion girlies are living for it! Again, because I’ve always been a lover of this fabric and already had many pieces in my wardrobe that fit the bill, it was just a matter of deciding which garments I actually wanted to bring out. To no surprise however, I did manage to add a few new items to my closet starting with this cropped jacket. As soon as I saw it, I was instantly brought back to my carefree middle school days where I had a very similar one that I was completely obsessed with. The overall shape and construction really sold me, especially when it came to the oversized relaxed fit and added shoulder pads. Because the wash was slightly off from my bottoms, I wanted to break it up in a chic yet effortless way. Personally, I believe that everyone should freshen up their basics each Spring/Summer season as they end up being the most worn and versatile throughout the year. I was really attempting to channel that 90’s “cool-girl” aesthetic, so when I came across these cut-out ribbed tanks, I knew they would be perfect; so much so that I got them in white and black. With the ensemble nearly complete I just had to pull together the right accessories to compliment my fit. Have you ever seen an item that you loved, but took your time on buying to the point where it sold out and you just assumed it would be restocked, but then NEVER was??? Well, that was my exact situation with these slingback heels and after months of obsessing and regretting having passed them up in the moment, I was finally able to find them in my size via consignment and did not make that mistake twice! Because of the hardware on my shoes, a silver chainmail bag and my favorite chunky earrings were the obvious choice. I finished off the look with a pair of sunnies (as per usual), and could not have felt more comfortable and confident! On what felt like the hottest day of the year thus far, I shot this look and though I was sweating throughout the entire process, it was definitely worth it in the end! I personally have a love/hate relationship with styling during the Summer months. At a certain point, even the simplest outfits become too hot and basking in the AC from the comfort of your own home seems like the best option. That being said, life is for the living and on days when I do have plans, I’ve learned to embrace the “less is more” approach. On these sweltering days, I like to stick to one focal piece (jumpsuit, dress, romper, etc.) that will serve as the foundation for the entire look. As my slip dress collection continues to expand, I couldn’t resist highlighting this gorgeous seafoam frock I recently purchased. Aside from the color, what caught my attention most was the halter style which provided the most flattering backless detail. I pride myself on cultivating a versatile wardrobe that consists of pieces that can adapt to a variety of settings and this dress absolutely fits the bill! Whether paired with flat slides at a backyard barbeque or strappy heeled sandals at a wedding, this garment can easily take you from day to night! For accessories, I wanted to keep it classic yet bold, so adding touches of black with my bag, shoes, earrings, and sunglasses allowed for the perfect subtle contrast. All in all, this is an ensemble I look forward to recreating as the season progresses, and as we move into the cooler months (with the addition of a few layers of course, lol). When it comes to color combinations, brown and blue is one that I personally love and have styled in a variety of ways on several occasions. It’s no secret that the chocolate shade was one of the biggest trends last year, and though more vibrant tones have taken over for the time being, I have no doubt it will resurface again towards the end of 2021. During an online retail therapy session, I came across this bodycon matching set and instantly knew I had to have it! Aside from the fact that it was giving all of the 90’s Mariah Carey “Butterfly” album cover vibes, it was also unlike anything I currently own in my wardrobe. Though I absolutely love statement pieces, I also genuinely appreciate garments that are simple enough to create an effortless, yet eye-catching ensemble. Because my foundation was so plain, I knew I had to include some striking elements that would really make my look pop! Towards the beginning of Spring, I purchased a tweed plaid blazer featuring gorgeous abstract shaped tortoise buttons. This striking accent detail matched perfectly with my co-ord, while also adding a balance of light, since I was working with a fairly dark base. My outerwear piece also incorporated teal threading in the pattern, which I chose to highlight with a bucket bag in a similar hue. For shoes, I kept it simple with a pair of black heeled sandals and was ready for brunch, date night, or an evening on the town with the girls. With the sense of normalcy steadily returning, the excitement of getting dressed up is also at an all time high! I look forward to recreating this look IRL and enjoying the simple moments we took for granted over the last year. Comment below your favorite featured item and until next time!

Every now and then we come across pieces that make us stop in our tracks and without hesitation, instantly find a place in our wardrobe. Like most of the fashion enthusiasts, I’ve been gravitating towards color in a way that is unlike ever before. Not only is this a reoccurring trend for Spring, but I also feel like this influx of bright hues represents somewhat of a celebration for getting through one of the toughest years the world has seen in quite some time. I’ve always been drawn to bold, unique trousers so when I stumbled across this turquoise croc-textured pair my mind was instantly blown! I actually styled a similar version in burgundy a couple months ago and was beyond excited to see the same brand come out with a more Spring appropriate color way. It was a no-brainer that these pants would be the star of any ensemble so it was just a matter of building around them. I knew that black would most likely be the contrasting shade, to coordinate with the button fastening. Aside from color, the cut-out trend has also been huge as we progress into warmer months. Recently I had been graciously gifted a few garments from a new independent brand and I couldn’t have been more impressed with the quality! This knit provided the perfect balance of texture and femininity, while still maintaining some of that eye-catching edge! Though the look was nearly complete, I still wanted to carefully choose my accessories. My favorite strappy mules seemed like the most obvious option for footwear but in efforts to break up the darker elements, I chose to go the metallic route! When I saw this bag in store years ago I was so hesitant to buy it because I wasn’t sure if I’d get my cost per wear. To my surprise, this has become one of my most show-stopping pieces and always brings a level of interest to any outfit I style it with. Lastly, I completed the look with my rimless clear frames which have also gotten tons of wear and are still getting compliments to this day. When it comes to deciding on brands to collaborate with, my process is fairly simple. I tend to ask myself the same 2 questions: “do I have a history with this company?” and, “does this brand have a product that I would actually wear/use in real life?” If everything checks out, it’s usually full steam ahead. After being contacted by the Jeff Wan team, which I was already familiar with, I quickly jumped at the opportunity! Aside from the unique take on accessories with the iconic “lunch box” shape, the quality and craftsmanship is truly unmatched. After filling out a quick survey and listing my top 3 selections, I was thrilled to receive the style that was at the top of my list! As soon as I saw it on the website, it instantly became my favorite. When it comes to styling, I love the color blue because although it can be vibrant, it can also pair with so many things in the way that a neutral shade does. In addition to that, I loved the graphic design that adorned this piece truly making it a showstopper from every angle! Coincidentally, I had been scouring the internet in search of the perfect pair of two-tone jeans. I’ve recently mentioned this popular trend and because I am personally a fan, I wanted to make sure I had something in my closet aside from footwear that fit the bill! This could not have been a more perfect match, as the shades of blue in the denim seamlessly highlighted the varying hues on the bag. In efforts to desaturate the look, I chose to incorporate a cream-colored cut out knit and coordinating cowboy boots. Surprisingly, the hardest part was trying to figure out which piece of outerwear I wanted to complete this ensemble. Because we are still in the midst of Winter, I am challenging myself to continue showcasing more practical outfits that can be worn in this very moment. Once I settled on my plush brown teddy coat, I threw on the largest pair of sunglasses I own and was just about done. As a final touch, I added gold abstract hoops to accent the hardware on my bag and was ready to step out in style! I absolutely loved how this look turned out, especially when it came to the balance of warm and cool tones. I know for a fact that this bag will be in heavy rotation especially as we make our way into the Spring and Summer seasons! Comment below your favorite featured piece and until next time!

In my opinion, the #1 way to look chic with minimal effort is by styling a monochrome outfit. Whether it’s all black, neutral, or whatever color tickles your fancy, this is a sure fire way to look “put-together” with ease. As resident of NYC who has also spent their entire life on the Northeast coast, it’s no secret that as soon as the temperature begins to drop, the color palettes we gravitate towards become darker and darker. Specifically speaking, Black is where it’s at! Wearing an all-black outfit is a fool-proof way to appear stylish, classic, and even a bit edgy. While I am definitely a person who doesn’t mind incorporating other more vibrant hues into my wardrobe, when it comes to my personal favorite, nothing else can compare! It seemed as though we were bombarded with knits much earlier this year, so while I was sprucing up my collection for the months ahead, on separate occasions, I snagged this sweetheart-neck top and ribbed midi skirt. The skirt actually happens to be apart of a co-ord set with a different matching knit, however as I knew I was planning to shoot this look without any outerwear, the long-sleeved option seemed like the better fit for my vision. As stated several times previously, nothing breaks up a monochrome ensemble like a variety of textures! I had been eyeing up these structured wrap-around sandals for quite some time, so when the opportunity finally came to purchase, I quickly made my move! Though I was pleased with how the overall look was coming along, I wanted to add a couple accents that I knew would brighten up the mood. I have recently become obsessed with statement earrings, and this mix-matched neutral pair were no exception. To play off of the lighter pearl accents, I grabbed my nylon pillow-like clutch for a more casual element. Lastly, I threw on my clear rectangular frames and was ready to go! While looks like this may be simple, I tend to rely on the details of the garments to provide the interest I’m looking for. Without the neckline of the sweater, slit in the skirt, wrapping of the heels, and accessories, this look may not have been anything that caught my eye. Luckily, with a few small tweaks, a basic outfit can become an instant showstopper! Comment below your favorite piece and until next time!

There’s something about sheer pieces in the cooler months that really help to add dimension when it comes to layering outfits. Every now and then I stumble across a garment that is so obvious yet innovative at the same time, it completely baffles me! During my weekly web searches, never did I imagine that I would be so intrigued by a fraction of a sweater, I never knew I needed. Truthfully, the only initial thought that came to mind was, “GENIUS!” As influencers and style enthusiasts, we are constantly recommending trends, fashion hacks, and ways to get the most out of the items in our closets. That said, with a new transitional season right around the corner, pieces like this are the perfect way to bridge the gap between Summer and Fall staples. I chose to pair this knit with a ribbed crop top as we are still experiencing fairly warm temperatures, however this piece could also compliment a variety of sleeveless items such as dresses, jumpsuits, or even t-shirts. Since I was working with such a stark contrast, I chose to keep the bottom half of my look pretty simple with a pair of mid-washed denim bermuda shorts. For some this style may not appear to be the most flattering, and though I haven’t owned any in years, I was quite pleased with how chic they looked when styled with a stappy heeled sandal. Since each piece brought so much character to the overall ensemble, I didn’t even bother carrying a bag but instead opted for cat-eye sunnies featuring a light tortoise print and gold jewelry. It may be too early to say, but I do believe that this look could be in the running for my favorite of 2020! The juxtaposition of edgy and feminine, combined with the comfort of the garments, and coolness of the accessories checked all of the boxes that ultimately embody my personal style as a whole. As we make our way through the final Summer months, the excitement of new trends begin to fill my mind and my style becomes more minimal as I prepare for my favorite layering season. I personally love this look because it is absolutely effortless yet still weather appropriate and chic! Biker shorts are still proving to be a closet essential and though I don’t own many pairs, they definitely come in handy on those super casual days. I chose to balance the spandex with an over-sized striped poplin shirt which really ensured my comfort level was on 1000! While I could have maintained the overall simplicity with a sneaker or flat shoe, this seemed like the perfect opportunity for a statement heel; and lucky for me, I had just bought some. These strappy nude sandals featuring a bright blue bubble heel, instantly elevated this outfit and truly made me feel like I was walking on a piece of art. For those who know me, outerwear, shoes, and accessories (specifically sunglasses and handbags) are typically where I implement the “wow factor” in most of my looks and this one was no exception! To finish off the ensemble I grabbed an old ring handle bag and a few gold pieces of jewelry to coordinate with its hardware. For one last subtle yet unexpected twist, I threw on a pair of tortoise cat-eye sunglasses instead of a black style, as I felt that they highlighted the warmth in the outfit, despite my cool-toned top being a focal piece. Needless to say, I’m ready to give my Autumnal wardrobe a bit of a refresh and break out those knits and blazers that have been hiding in the back of my closet. Can you believe we’re more than half way through 2020?!?!! Comment below what you’re looking forward to most during the upcoming season, and until next time!
