I read a quote that said, “August is the Sunday of Summer” and I’m highly inclined to agree! As we look ahead to the upcoming seasons, I’ve been very intentional about the items that I’m choosing to add to my wardrobe to ensure they are versatile enough to withstand the inevitable temperature changes. In addition to that, I have also been preparing for an exciting Euro trip that will absolutely require some stand-out pieces… but, more to come on that later. Recently, I’ve found myself drawn to a lot of corset and bustier structured tops. I personally believe they are here to stay and will be quite the trend, especially during the transitional periods, since they’re so easy to layer over and under an array of garments. It’s no secret that this particular version was inspired by a few different designers and to my surprise, even at a fraction of the price, the quality exceeded my expectations! The double lined fabric and sweetheart neckline design kept me feeling super supported as well as comfortable, making it an instant win. As a nod to my obsession with juxtaposition and denim, I chose to pair it with yet another set of cargo-like trousers. I was immediately “influenced” when I saw these on a fellow blogger, and absolutely sold by the adjustable ankle strap that allowed for a more tapered look if desired. For footwear, I opted for my trusted sling-back pvc heels and finished off the ensemble with my go-to round black frames which tied all of the dark elements together seamlessly. Since my color palette remained neutral, the option was definitely available to add a pop of color. After giving it some thought however, I decided to balance out the edginess with a touch of glamor and grabbed my newest rhinestone bag as a final statement maker. To match, I quickly threw on some silver jewelry, and another simple yet elevated outfit was complete! I’ve always taken pride in my ability to find and style unique items that pack a punch in understated yet cool ways. I think by now this “quarantine life” has gotten to all of us in some way or another. Up until this point, I had never really worked sweat suits into my everyday style, but now, they’re probably what I wear the most! Being comfortable and casual is pretty much the only way to describe my style these days, so I figured why not lean into it and create a look based on the pieces I find myself in majority of the time. This beige co-ord happens to be one of at least four loungewear sets I’ve purchased over the last 6 months. The neutral color and soft cozy fabric instantly attracted me and I knew I had to have it! While I would easily wear this set around the house as is, complimented by my fuzzy slippers, I decided to challenge myself to style it in a way that was a bit more presentable in the event that I was actually leaving the house. I also recently ordered this hybrid faux leather and camel trench coat which I was dying to style before we transition out of the Winter season. Initially when pairing these items, I was concerned that everything would just blend together because of the similar neutral shades. To prevent this from happening, I knew I had to integrate more contrast so each garment could shine on its own. I started by layering the sweater with a thin grey knit. This broke up the tan hues making a clear distinction between the pieces even though they were so close together. To further separate the coat, I added a chunky gold chain-link necklace to really emphasize the stacked fabrics and add a pop of interest since I was working with a very muted palette. Lastly, I knew I didn’t want to opt for basic black boot, so instead I reached for my favorite snake-print style which added some unexpected color and texture to the overall look. To further elevate the ensemble, I kept on my leather gloves which I felt brought a sense of sophistication and practicality. While I was initially hesitant that this outfit would be too plain, I loved how it turned out and look forward to doing more sweat suit styling challenges as 2021 progresses. Christmas is right around the corner and time is not slowing down by any means! Though things are looking quite different for a lot of us this year, I have personally tried my best to maintain a sense of normalcy and do everything I can to get myself in the spirit. Despite all of the changes, hardships, and restrictions overall, I cannot ignore all of the things I have to be grateful for. This year, because so many of us will be spending the holidays from the comfort of our own homes, I wanted to create festive looks that were both comfortable and a bit casual. I have been a fan of sweater dresses for quite some time and I have no doubt that they will remain a closet staple for years to come. Especially in the colder months, they are probably the most effective garment for looking put-together with minimal effort. I recently purchased this grey frock and was instantly pleased with the softness of the fabric, fit, and classic fitted turtleneck style. With such a simple piece to anchor the overall ensemble, I knew I could play up the accessories to really convey those celebratory, holiday vibes. Since I’ve recently moved, I have stumbled across a lot of items in my closet that I forgot I even owned; to my surprise, this faux fur vest was one of them! I remember getting it at least 3 years ago from a consignment shop and absolutely falling in love! The ombre black and white color scheme and texture truly made this a chic showstopper that I knew would be perfect to elevate my look. With nearly 75% of my outfit complete, I knew that accessories would be the icing on this Christmas cake! While rummaging through my old statement jewelry collection, I found this gorgeous silver necklace fully composed of rhinestones and layered chains. This was absolutely the piece I needed to complete my Winter glam look, and to finish it off, I added my favorite croc embossed leather booties. Whether planning to stay at home or traveling to celebrate with loved ones, this is absolutely an outfit I would wear to ring in the festivities.
