When styling, I love nothing more than mixing and matching different pieces. Whether it be through textures, prints, or fashion genres, this trick in my opinion always helps bring more dimension and interest to an ensemble. I received this floral crop top and honestly didn’t have a clear direction regarding what I wanted to pair it with. Jeans seemed like the easy way out, but I wanted to push myself a little harder. Instead, I settled on a cream-colored denim mini skirt that kept the same casual element I seemed to be leaning towards, while also perfectly matching the tones in my top. Believe it or not, I was completely stumped at this point. I was pleased with how the two garments I had looked together, but for me, the look was far from complete and just fell a bit flat. Being a girl who NEVER plans her outfits in advance, it’s no surprise that more times than not, I’m usually finalizing my style creations the morning of my shoot and adding finishing touches that I wasn’t able to think of in the days prior. I decided to give my AF1’s a break and revisit my trusty Vans for footwear. Still, the ensemble was giving me unrefined middle-school vibes. In the final moments I had before I needed to get ready, as usual, the vision came to me. I pulled a striped blazer from a suit set that I haven’t worn in quite some time and saw the look instantly elevate before my eyes. Since I decided to forego a bag, I relied on my accessories to save the day. Lately, I have become more of a jewelry wearer, with a slight obsession for rings. That said, I made sure to incorporate some gold pieces with a coordinating cuff bracelet and my small hoops. After adding a round pair of frames, I was finally satisfied and ready to SLAY! When developing your personal style, I think it’s so important to try new things and step out of your comfort zone; you never know, you might just stumble upon an odd combination you like! Until next time!

More often than not, there’s usually one specific piece that becomes the catalyst when creating my outfits. In this specific instance it was this fun vinyl tote from Jeff Wan. I was lucky enough to have been selected for this collaboration and though I was excited for the styling, it took me some time to figure out where to start. Based on the style of bag as well as the bold pineapple stamp, I immediately decided to use the beach as my theme and inspiration. I had already had this one-shoulder asymmetric top in my closet and had been meaning to use it in a blog post since the day I brought it home. During my shopping session, I was initially leaning towards a flowy wide-legged pant, but unfortunately could not find anything that suited my vision. After browsing the sale section, I also picked up cream blazer as an addition to my wardrobe staples; with no intention of using it for this particular look. As I arrived at my final store location of the day, these striped shorts caught my attention without hesitation I knew that they would be perfect! They instantly reminded me of those giant beach umbrellas and before I knew it, my look was coming together right before my eyes. Because my bag had brown accents, I decided to incorporate a pair of suede mules in the same color to add a bit of cohesiveness. To elevate the look, I made a last-minute decision to drape the blazer I had purchased over my shoulders, which really helped to provide dimension and a touch of sophistication to the ensemble overall. For jewelry, in efforts to highlight the gold button detail on my sleeve, I added a matching pair of dangling earrings and was ready to roll! This outfit truly gave me all of the chic vacation feels and I am undoubtedly pleased with how it turned out. The time has come and we are FINALLY beginning to see some signs of Spring approaching. I don’t know about you guys, but I have had my fair share of Winter blues and am ready to pull out some light jackets, flowy fabrics, and most of all COLOR. To my surprise, I was contacted again by the lovely representatives at Who What Wear and was graciously given the opportunity to select a few pieces from their new collection. I am personally a fan of this brand as a whole because it always seems to find ways to incorporate the latest trends in a wearable way that suits everyone from the style vets, to the fashionistas in training; not to mention the prices are also a bargain! The first piece I decided to style out of the two I was gifted, was a double breasted striped trench vest. Since I was working with such a neutral color scheme and versatile print, there were quite a few options floating around in my head at first glance. Initially, I was planning to fasten all the buttons and wear the garment like a dress, with hopes of finding a dainty blouse that could be layered underneath. After browsing the stores however, the top I had in mind was nowhere to be found and I wasn’t too keen on how the outerwear piece looked as a frock, even with the belt tied tightly around my waist. So it was back to the drawing board, and plan B was put into motion! Since the trench was so long, I thought it would be interesting to add a wide-legged trouser that could essentially streamline the look and give the illusion of an elongated frame. It didn’t take long before I stumbled upon the brightest sky-colored trouser that instantly reminded me of a sunny Spring day without a cloud in sight. The pants also came with an O-ring belt detail which gave a nod to the utilitarian trend that has recently become popular. I decided to keep things simple with a black sleeveless turtleneck sweater and white heels to tie in the stark stripes. Lastly, in efforts to add an unexpected touch, I finished off the look with yellow cat-eye frames for some subtle primary-color-blocking. I honestly felt like this was a great transitional look to launch into the new season, and I can’t wait to show you guys the other piece I styled from the Who What Wear collection. Until next time!

With just 5 days left until its officially 2019, I had to post one more festive holiday look that would be perfect for all of the year end celebrations. New Year’s Eve, for me, is always a night of reflection, toasting, and fun, in honor of making it through another 365 days with my loved ones. I had no specific pieces in mind in regards to what I wanted to style for this look, but upon seeing this jumpsuit, I knew I had found the perfect garment to create my vision. After calling around to a few stores to track down my size, I was able to bring this gorgeous metallic garment home and begin cultivating my look. Because the majority of my canvas would be black and gold, I wanted to accessorize with pieces that were minimal, yet striking enough to elevate the already statement making item. As much as I loved this jumpsuit, I felt that the torso was a tad too long for me (short people problems, lol) so adding a belt was a no-brainer. Coincidentally, I had recently picked up a new one in the same color scheme a few weeks prior, and it ended up being the perfect fit! The rustic gold accents and thick black leather strap really helped give an overall edge to the look as well as provide more of a silhouette for my frame. For this ensemble, I also wanted to be realistic in how I presented it and make sure it was as weather appropriate as possible. I’ve gotten to an age where I don’t like to put myself in predicaments where I’m freezing just for the sake of being “cute,” so it was important for me to at least include a piece of outwear and closed toe shoes. I kept the heels understated since there was an abundance of sparkle throughout the look, and for a bit of contrast layered on a faux shearling jacket for some extra warmth. The look was just about complete but I figured, “a little extra drama wouldn’t hurt anybody, right?!” So with that being said, I put on stunning pair of rhinestone chandelier earrings for one last final touch of glam. I was definitely thrilled with how this look turned out and strongly felt that it highlighted my style evolution in the same way that NYE celebrations represent growth and development over the year prior. I truly hope everyone had an exciting year full of lessons and fruitful experiences, and I can’t wait to see you all in 2019! Whatever you’re doing for NYE, stay safe and have fun! Until next time!

I draw inspiration from so many different things when creating my looks, I honestly think it would be impossible to run out of ideas! For instance, with Christmas right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to style a look inspired by jolly ol’ St. Nick! What’s funny is that I really didn’t have this idea in mind until I started collecting the pieces. I saw this burgundy pinstriped blazer a few weeks ago and, though I didn’t purchase it initially, I couldn’t get it out of my head so it didn’t take me long to decide to go back for it. Everything from the rich color, to the belted detail and buttons truly had me swooning! I thought it would be the perfect addition to my tailored collection, as well as make a great statement piece for a sophisticated and chic holiday look. On an unrelated shopping outing, I had been on the hunt for a pair of leather gloves. For the past few Winter seasons I’ve wanted a new pair but always end up waiting too long and missing out. Luckily, this year I decided to jump on the bandwagon early and I’m so happy I did! In the midst of creating content, holiday shopping, and my regular 9-5, I also moved into a new apartment and suffered a minor injury in the process– and thus, the Santa look was born! Because I wanted to keep my wounded finger covered, the gloves were a no-brainer and everything else just seemed to fall into place. While the blazer did come with a matching pair of trousers, I was set on keeping things a bit more casual and styled it with a pair of jeans I had recently bought instead. To further stick with my theme, I figured a black bootie would suffice for footwear; and the lace-up pair I found with mesh detailing really helped to pull everything together. To compliment this accent, I also wore a sheer bodysuit to give my look a consistent edgy vibe. Lastly, in efforts to soften the look a bit, I added a pair of statement earrings to complete my modern Mrs. Clause vision! I’d like to think this is how I would look if I were to deliver gifts around NYC. Instead of reindeer I had my row of cabs and though they don’t fly, they certainly speed through traffic like no other, lol! In all seriousness, I really enjoyed shooting this outfit and would be interested in challenging myself to create more looks inspired by holiday characters. Let me know what you guys think of this idea in the comments below. Until next time!

For this collaboration with Who What Wear, I was challenged to style one article of clothing 3 different ways. Though excited, as this isn’t something I typically showcase on my blog, I was also a bit nervous not because I felt incapable but because I wasn’t choosing the item myself. That being said, I was so relieved to see that the item chosen for me was right up my alley and a wardrobe staple that I could easily style in a variety of ways. This double-breasted, pin striped blazer is the perfect Fall essential for layering over transitional pieces and adding a more tailored element to any ensemble. For my first look, I decided to keep things very chic and sleek by pairing it with a turtleneck that I layered under a satin camisole, along with black skinnys and a pair of minimal black pumps. To me, this look gave more of a business casual vibe, or “boss babe” if you will. Overall, I loved the way this look turned out and it definitely made me feel strong and confident!

I would say that my second look is for the more casual & cool girls out there. Putting this outfit together was extremely effortless and I think it showed in the way the pieces complimented each other. I chose to do a bit of print-mixing and found the perfect red, leopard print frock to do so. To keep things easy, I threw on some sneakers and a pair of mesh socks for a cute unexpected detail and was out the door. In efforts to add a few more accessories, I grabbed my black cross-body bag with silver hardware and cat-eye frames, which I definitely think helped play off of the edgy vibe without being too overpowering.

Last but certainly not least, I decided to end with a trendy street-style look. As we are well into the Autumn season, I felt like I couldn’t finish this collaboration without incorporating a bit of corduroy. Luckily, I was able to find the most amazing flared trousers which made all of my 70’s dreams come true. To keep them as the focal point of the look, I paired the pants with a simple white t-shirt and added a some gold layered necklaces which I’ve been absolutely obsessed with lately. After throwing on my black booties, I completed this look with a dark vampy lip and draped the blazer over my shoulders for a final touch.  Personally, I loved all of these looks for different reasons and I feel like they reflected the versatility of my everyday style in the best way. Let me know in the comments which outfit was your favorite and if you would’ve styled this blazer in a way that I didn’t think of. Until next time!

While I’ve never been one to completely shy away from color, with the exception of floral prints, I generally tend to stick it to one bold shade at a time. Recently however, it seems as though multicolored pieces as well as rainbow patterns have become quite popular on and off the runways. Whether you choose to incorporate this into your ensemble as a whole or with just a few accessories, I decided to round up a few options that could make testing out this trend fairly easy. Don’t forget to click the images for direct links to the products featured and let me know if this is something you would try in the comments below. Until next time!

Coming off the heels of NYFW, I can honestly say that I was truly inspired. So much so, that I wanted to challenge myself by incorporating the vibrant colors I saw on and off the runways into my current Fall wardrobe. I bought this dress in particular for a girl’s trip to Miami, and unfortunately ran out of time before I could wear it. Previously, I would’ve never thought I could style a wrap dress like this, let alone considerate it appropriate for the cooler months in NYC. That being said, I decided to give it a go and ended up being completely in love with the result! Clearly this frock was the focal piece, yet despite the various colors throughout, I decided to play off of the subtle black stripes in the design. Though we are still getting a few glimpses of Summer with the inconsistent forecast, I chose this as the perfect opportunity to dust off my leather thigh-high boots and see if they could still handle these city streets. Styling dark accessories can sometimes become overpowering and make an ensemble feel too weighed down. In efforts to prevent this issue, I made sure to space out the black accent items and find pieces that varied in texture. The belt bag I purchased, while incorporating leather, also had an unexpected suede layer beneath the clasp. Additionally, I also decided to add a hat– I know what you’re thinking, “SHOCKING!” I think it’s pretty evident that I have no problem taking risks with my style or stepping out of my comfort zone when I find a piece that I feel will suit me. The “baker boy” hat trend has been popular since the last Autumn/Winter season, and while I wasn’t the biggest fan at first, this vinyl version really peaked my interest enough to try it for myself. Quite frankly, I’m just happy I was able to make this dress work now instead of having to store it in the back of my closet until next year. With silk & satin also being popular fabrics at the moment, I’m already thinking of ways to re-style this dress for the colder months. I can already picture it with either a blazer on top and/or a thin turtleneck underneath for some extra layers. Let me know in the comments how you would style this dress, or if you have Summer pieces from your own closet that might make their way into your Fall wardrobe. Until next time!

I think it’s safe to say we’ve all heard of the acronym “LBD,” and I’m even more certain most of us ladies have at least one go-to in our closets. The little black dress serves as a classic wardrobe staple that always comes in handy when we are down to the wire and can think of nothing else (or better) to wear. I mean what’s not to love; the LBD is usually slimming, appropriate for most events, and easily paired with just about anything. That being said, I’d like to think of the LWD as its increasingly popular cousin that is slowly becoming a clothing essential of its own. Initially, I saw the little white dress included on styling guides mostly geared towards vacation and holidays. Recently however, that seems to have changed as there are so many variations of this frock on the market; it has become an easy alternative to the traditional LBD. Especially during the warmer months, there’s something so refreshing and minimal about this garment it’s no surprise that it has slowly taken over the closets of many. When I came across this tuxedo inspired version I was instantly sold! The tailored style accented with flowing pleats along the skirt really made this piece the perfect marriage of structure and movement. Because this dress also appeared more formal in my opinion, I decided to play against that and make it a bit more casual and fun. To do this, the first accessory I grabbed was a pair of bright red retro inspired cat-eye frames. While I’m not sure how well this pair in particular suits me, I loved how they popped against the overall stark ensemble. On the more monochrome front, I kept it very simple and plain with probably the most worn pair of white sneakers I own (sidebar: tell me your favorite style/brand of white sneakers in the comments below!). Lastly, to tie everything together, I opted to finish off the look with a multicolored striped crossbody bag; which I am absolutely certain I’ll be styling a lot during the Spring/Summer months. So tell me, are you a LBD or LWD type of girl? Until next time!

Now that the temperatures have FINALLY begun to remain consistently warm and “Spring-like,” it’s only natural that thoughts of vacations and summer Fridays become more of a priority. As a person whose mood is greatly affected by the weather, I am definitely excited for the increase of sunshine and abundance of social events that these next few seasons bring. While browsing the shops for inspiration, I didn’t even plan on buying anything but of course ended up spotting a piece that I couldn’t resist! This blue and white striped blouse fit so perfectly, I was actually tempted to wear it out of the store (after paying for it obviously, lol). There was something about this piece that just made me want to book a weekend getaway and relax by a beautiful body of water. I also loved the trendy under-wire design that added a chic structure and uniqueness to the top; setting it apart from the average button-up. Since I felt like I had already found the main focal piece of the ensemble, the challenge now was to find complimentary items to complete it. At first, I thought about settling for a pair of jeans or a cream colored skirt to highlight the stripes, yet after trying both of those options I wasn’t quite satisfied. Since I liked the look of the mini skirt however, I thought that a black version would make for a  better contrast; and after trying it on I was instantly sold! Having a darker piece on the bottom really allowed the top to stand out while still adding balance to the overall look. In efforts to keep things streamlined and sleek, I chose to incorporate my new pair of black flatform sandals for casual touch. I also want to point out that these may be the most comfortable pair of shoes I own to date! Though I loved the look as is, I definitely wanted to add a few accessories to emphasize the Spring/Summer vibe I was going for. It took me quite awhile to jump on the straw bag trend because frankly, aside from being cute in photos, I couldn’t justify them as a practical investment. That being said, when I came across this round version and saw the intricate detailing, I figured it was finally time to get on board. Since I had the beach element down, I also decided to add a pair of black chandelier earrings for some unexpected sparkle. Lastly, on the day of my shoot, I completed the look with a pair of  geometric sunnies and I couldn’t have been happier! I’m a HUGE fan of how this look came together and know for a fact I’ll be wearing it again, as well as the pieces individually, for as long as the weather will allow. Let me know your favorite item from this look in the comments below. Until next time!
