Aside from denim and blazers, when it comes to building a capsule wardrobe, a crisp white shirt is an absolute must! Over the years my collection of poplins has continued to grow, so much so that they’ve even begun to expand and transform into a variety of styles. While the coast is still clear to wear white (just kidding, THERE ARE NO FASHION RULES!), I decided to pull out a new frock that I’ve been patiently waiting for the perfect opportunity to showcase. Per usual, what I loved most about it was the contemporary take on an otherwise traditional garment. Everything from the cut-outs to the open back and lace up detailing, which gave a nod to the current corset trend, this dress literally hit all the marks when it came to eye-catching elements! While subtly there may have been a lot going on within this one piece, I still wanted to style it with other exciting items, for a bit of “razzle dazzle.” In efforts to combat the amount of skin on show, I thought it would be nice to balance the ensemble with a pair of snake print knee-high boots, which served as a slightly more impactful neutral. Lastly, I completed the outfit with a Kelly green mini bag that despite its bold hue, compliments a lot more things in my wardrobe than I would have expected upon purchasing it. For jewelry, silver was the obvious choice and my rimless frames were the icing on one extremely stylish cake! Layered with a light trench coat or oversized blazer, this could also be a great transitional look as we head into the cooler months! Comment below your favorite featured piece and until next time!

The easiest way to break up an entirely neutral or monochrome look would be the pairing of a variety of textures. I tend to rely on this rule most heavily during he cooler months as the color palettes begin to get darker, and it can be trickier to have your wardrobe essentials stand out. Because I knew I was dealing with only two colors for this entire outfit, brown and black, I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to test out this theory! I bought this coat recently during one of the huge end of Summer sales and instantly knew it was a statement piece I’d get my cost per wear out of this season, and many more to come. Snake-print is another trend that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, so I was more than happy to add this beauty to my closet. Knowing this would be the focal piece, I wanted to find a way to layer other garments under it that were understated enough not to clash, but also eye-catching. After a bit more browsing online and through my own collection, I finally put it together! I chose a sheer, black checkered top and a mini skirt which proved to be the most perfect combination. The pieces were simple yet edgy and though they may have come off a bit risque on their own, under the bold trench, they were every bit of chic! For the first time this season, I also pulled out my favorite croc embossed black booties. These tied the look together and kept the ensemble streamlined while still adding height and balance against the more revealing pieces. Lastly, I finished off the look with my brown gradient aviator frames and a few gold rings. Personally, I feel like this outfit is my most accurate portrayal of transitional Fall dressing and I’m excited to see how my style evolves from here. Don’t forget to comment below your favorite piece and until next time!

As if I wasn’t obsessed with jumpsuits enough, a new variation has surfaced which has in turn revamped my excitement and need to further add to my collection. Recently, “boiler suits” have become the new trendiest item in street-style, perfect for giving off all the effortlessly cool vibes we all know and love. The only difference I’ve seen between this garment and other statement one-pieces, is the casual and relaxed fit coupled with a somewhat utilitarian structure. That being said, they are just as easy to style and are perfect for those on the go days when outfit preparation is not feasible. Because pieces like this are essentially an all-in-one outfit, I was faced with the challenge of creating a look that was slightly more interesting than just throwing it on straight from the hanger. To solve this issue, I immediately knew that layering would be my best bet. Though reaching for a turtleneck was my first instinct, I decided to try a different style of top that would still highlight the suit’s design. It didn’t take long before my attention was captured by a neutral colored knit, accented with a zip closure along the neck. Believe it or not, this is my first sweater in this style and I couldn’t help but get a sense of the 70’s after putting it on. To add a bit more texture, I decided to showcase my new booties in a bold muti-colored snake print. I love these shoes because aside from being complete head turners, they can literally go with anything due to the burgundy, cream, blue, and grey tones throughout the pattern. At this point, while my look was nearly complete, I still felt like something was missing. Outwear isn’t something I feature often on my blog, but due to the severe temperatures we’ve been facing lately, I felt it was absolutely necessary. I’ve been on the hunt for a shorter puffer jacket this season and just when I thought I had missed my chance, I stumbled upon this heather grey beauty! Aside from the color, the overall cut, fabric, and style perfectly aligned with the theme of this ensemble in the most practical yet chic way. Let me know in the comments your favorite piece(s) from this look and what staple items you’ve been reaching for to brave this 2019 Winter. Until next time!

I feel like this season more than ever, I’ve been really open to trying out different trends. It just seems like a lot of the popular statement making pieces thus far have been right up my alley, and it’s been very easy to incorporate them into my current wardrobe. Honestly, every item in this look can be classified as “on-trend,” so let’s just start from the top and work our way down, shall we? Vibrant colors were HUGE this fashion month, so much so that even neon made a come back! Designer brands like Prada incorporated a variety of these shades into their recent designs, with green seeming to lead the pack. For me personally, I like to find pieces that fit the mold without being so trend specific that they can’t be worn once they’re no longer “in style.” Because I’m not the biggest fan of neon, I opted for a chartreuse turtleneck that was just as bold and eye-catching. To compliment this minimal top, I chose a textured snake print mini skirt that served as the perfect neutral. While that statement may be hard to believe, there’s not much that animal prints can’t be paired with as they all usually tend to incorporate shades of black, brown, & occasionally grey. To finish up the look I chose to add stark white accessories instead of my usual darker pieces. (FUN FACT: I bought this clutch in college and it’s made an appearance on my website every year since I’ve started blogging.) With the colder months slowly approaching, I love the idea of including lighter colored items into my Fall/Winter ensembles, aside from the typical black boots and bags. These sling-backs were so interesting to me and the round wooden heel really helped to pull the warm tones out of the skirt and balance the look. To play off of the silver hardware, I threw on my favorite pair of geometric earrings and a pair of clear frames for an extra cool factor. This was definitely one of my more fun looks that really just made me…happy! The vibrancy truly uplifted my mood and made me feel like risk-taking rockstar that could conquer the fashion world– slightly extreme, but you get the point, lol. Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried, or are interested in trying any of the trends discussed and list your favorite. Until next time!

Coming from a private school educational background, I never would’ve thought that I would end up in a skort by CHOICE, especially considering all of the memories I have about the years of being confined to a uniform. That said, things change and style evolves so when I came across this raw edged denim piece, I was instantly intrigued. As it is still Summer and showing off bare legs is pretty much an everyday occurrence, I like finding new pieces that can give me more options outside of standard cut-offs or dresses; and this item did just that. Because this skort is a dark wash, the options were endless in terms of what I could pair it with. After much thought, I decided to accentuate the metallic D-ring belt detail by reaching for a champagne colored blouse. For me, this piece was simple enough to keep the overall look sleek while still adding a bit of drama with the ruffled sleeves. Though I was off to a good start, I still felt like this outfit was missing something and my snake print flats provided the extra bit of interest I was looking for. Mules, and other various forms of “slip-on” footwear, have been extremely popular over the last couple of years and I personally loved how this particular pair tied the look together with the color scheme as well as adding another element of texture. To finish off the ensemble, I decided to accessorize with my aviator readers and nothing else. There were so many focal points to this look, I didn’t feel as though a bag would’ve added anything extra. For me, it’s important to show diversity within the outfits I choose to wear so that getting dressed never feels like a mundane chore. Let me know in the comments below what you do to stay excited about your personal style. Until next time!!

To some, living in a major city can be highly overwhelming. Its extremely fast paced, and if you’re not running for a taxi, the subway, or to your next meeting…you’re probably a tourist. LOL. But all jokes aside, while I do understand how hectic it can be for some, I love every ounce of it. There’s never a dull moment or a shortage of places to go and I personally feel like I learn something new almost every day. To compliment the “on-the-go” theme I had planned for this look, I decided to keep the outfit simple and stick with a flat shoe. By now, we should all know that even my most simplest looks have a little edge and this ensemble was no different! I pulled a very dramatic high/low chiffon blouse from my closet and paired it with some destroyed denim cut-offs that I’ve had for ages! Then, to add a different texture I went with some snake print slip-on flats and a statement necklace to finish off the look. As I’ve said before, you don’t always need the boldest colors or patterns to stand out. In my opinion, it’s the tiny elements and nuances that make for an eye-catching and memorable look. While prancing around the city that never sleeps comfort and style are always at the top of my list. A wise person once told me, “If you’re bored in New York City, maybe you’re just boring.” Until next time guys! 🙂
