For the most part I feel like my style this Summer has remained fairly neutral, but that doesn’t mean I still don’t enjoy a burst of vibrancy every now and then. As we continue into the later months of the season, I tend to gravitate towards effortlessness and ease when it comes to styling my outfits. Between the intense heat and subtle longing for Fall, whatever ensemble requires the least amount of thought is usually what I opt for. I had seen this slip dress on Instagram months ago, and was immediately obsessed! The overall rose print, contrast of colors, and lace-up details captured every stylistic genre from feminine and romantic to whimsical and contemporary. Knowing this piece would be the star of the show, keeping my accessories tame was a no-brainer. Surprisingly, I chose to take the juxtaposition a step further by selecting a flat platform sandal instead of a heel. In no way did this frock lack in eye-catching ability, so choosing the more comfortable route seemed like a perfectly sufficient way to ground the look. Because of the black elements incorporated into the abstract design, I did not hesitate to grab my favorite round sunnies and top handle bag which I have consistently featured time and time again. I think this outfit also proves that if you strive to build an elevated wardrobe with quality garments, no matter what you pair together, there will always be a level of interest and a sense of effort. While this look is simple, it incorporates just about every popular trend in women’s fashion right now (this was not done on purpose, lol). From the embroidered bomber jacket, to the choker necklace, slip dress, and staple Stan Smith Adidas sneakers…I honestly don’t think I could look like less of a typical “blogger” if I tried. By no means am I complaining though, as I am honestly a lover of each and every one of these trends. Literally, up until the day and time I was ready to shoot this look, I wasn’t quite satisfied. To let you in on a little secret, the sneakers pictured aren’t even mine but I am now determined to own them because of this shoot. I’ve been seeing these sneakers on every blogger and fashion junky religiously for about the last year and a half and while I was planning to steer clear of them for that very reason, I have since been convinced and see why everyone loves them! The comfort alone is a major selling point, but aside from that they really do go with EVERYTHING. I honestly never imagined they would be so versatile with the Kelly green logo but they seem to just….work. Long story short, I had actually brought a pair of white pumps to style with this look but the entire train ride from Harlem to the Soho shooting location, I found myself wishing I had these exact sneakers to wear instead. Luckily, the stars aligned and my awesome photographer happened to be wearing them (in my size) and loaned them to me for the shoot! Yes, she shot in her socks and I will be forever grateful! As stated previously, this look is pretty simple and straightforward. I had been on the hunt for an embroidered bomber that Zara sold about 2 years ago and with no luck finding it, I made my way to Ebay and settled for a dupe (a pretty good one at that)! Because the jacket is so eye-catching, I decided to do without a bag and kept my accessories simple with a black choker and a monogram bar necklace, gifted to me from an amazing jewelry shop based in Brooklyn called Metal Mingle. I am really quite pleased with how this look turned out considering it was so last minute. I guess it never hurts to follow trends every once in a while lol– until next time!

Nothing screams “spring” like floral prints, so for this look I wanted to showcase a patterned piece that made a statement while still maintaining an overall casual and chic vibe. The focal piece, being an over-sized blazer, is actually apart of a co-ord short set, but because the temperatures are still not very consistent and I wanted a less formal look, I decided to pair it with a relaxed fit jean. In efforts to tie in some chic elements, I decided to go with minimal pieces that varied in texture while still remaining timeless and on trend. To contrast with the structure of the blazer, I threw on a satin slip dress and tucked it in slightly to really exaggerate the dainty and soft nature of  the garment. For footwear, I grabbed my leather mules that literally go with EVERYTHING! After deciding against a bag, I still felt something was missing. Surprisingly enough, while being a girl who doesn’t wear much jewelry, I reached for my gunmetal choker as a finishing  touch and to add a little sparkle. I bought this necklace for NYE and I’m quite thrilled at how well it has found a place in my wardrobe. I personally love looks like this, that don’t require much effort but also contain pieces that fit so well together that you may not have initially styled. Well, until next time guys!

Last year the slip dress trend was huge, so I decided to reach in my closet and style something in honor of it. Not only are slip dresses completely appropriate for the summer heat, they also serve as a good excuse to bring some sexiness to the outside world with a piece that resembles something reserved for the bedroom. Knowing that I love a good contrast, I decided to pair a leather jacket against the dainty, lace trimmed dress. For shoes, I chose to go with minimal, single- strap mules that I felt added to the casual nature of the look. In my opinion, summer is the hardest season to dress for because most of the time when the heat is scorching, it’s much easier to opt for no clothes at all. For us girls though, it’s pieces like the slip dress that come in and save the day! They take no effort to throw on and still look put together while maintaining plenty of ventilation through the thin fabric. Also, I don’t know about you, but I personally think slip dresses look a little nicer than the typical tank and shorts. I’ll be stocking up on these this summer for sure!
