When it comes to color combinations, brown and blue is one that I personally love and have styled in a variety of ways on several occasions. It’s no secret that the chocolate shade was one of the biggest trends last year, and though more vibrant tones have taken over for the time being, I have no doubt it will resurface again towards the end of 2021. During an online retail therapy session, I came across this bodycon matching set and instantly knew I had to have it! Aside from the fact that it was giving all of the 90’s Mariah Carey “Butterfly” album cover vibes, it was also unlike anything I currently own in my wardrobe. Though I absolutely love statement pieces, I also genuinely appreciate garments that are simple enough to create an effortless, yet eye-catching ensemble. Because my foundation was so plain, I knew I had to include some striking elements that would really make my look pop! Towards the beginning of Spring, I purchased a tweed plaid blazer featuring gorgeous abstract shaped tortoise buttons. This striking accent detail matched perfectly with my co-ord, while also adding a balance of light, since I was working with a fairly dark base. My outerwear piece also incorporated teal threading in the pattern, which I chose to highlight with a bucket bag in a similar hue. For shoes, I kept it simple with a pair of black heeled sandals and was ready for brunch, date night, or an evening on the town with the girls. With the sense of normalcy steadily returning, the excitement of getting dressed up is also at an all time high! I look forward to recreating this look IRL and enjoying the simple moments we took for granted over the last year. Comment below your favorite featured item and until next time!

Like most people, I too enjoy viewing the new year as a fresh start to set goals, create healthier habits, and challenge myself for the better. When it comes to fitness, this is something that has remained a constant in my life for quite some time now; not just for the physical benefits, but the mental as well. 2020 was an extremely trying year full of uncomfortable adjustments and uncertainties, but I can wholeheartedly say that maintaining some form of active routine definitely helped me get through it. That being said, as I get back into my wellness regimen, the timing could not have been more perfect for this Adidas collaboration. What truly resonated with me, was the fact that this line was co-created with actor, Zoe Saldana, to meet the needs of the “modern woman.” Thanks to quarantine, finding reasons to get dressed has become much more of a task so having stylish activewear that can be worn for a variety of purposes is key! It was also touching to know that as another woman of color, Ms. Saldana wanted to use this collection to celebrate underrepresented communities and give a voice to the unheard; which unfortunately have been negatively impacted by this pandemic the most. Though new information seems to be rolling out daily, I find it comforting to focus on the variables that I can control within my own life. Sustaining positive practices like exercising has kept me focused and emotionally strong while continuing to take on 2021 day by day. Upon receiving the pieces, I was instantly intrigued by the bold color scheme and vibrant prints. For me, though most of my workout gear is fairly neutral, I find that brighter garments definitely provide an energy that keeps me motivated to get up and get in the zone. Aside from that, the fit was flattering and the material used was soft yet supportive. The sneakers, though light in weight, provided an incredible cushion that made engaging in high impact movements completely stress-free! I would absolutely look into adding more pieces from the line into my wardrobe and am even more excited to tackle my fitness goals for this year. Recently, co-ords and blazers have really made a statement in my wardrobe and given the season we are currently in, it only made sense that I would feature a few with floral prints. Suits and separates are great because of the versatility that comes with them whether wearing them together or apart. Blazers in particular however, are definitely a timeless favorite due to their ability to make any outfit effortlessly chic when thrown over even the most basic pieces. Below I’ve rounded up a few styles that have caught my eye. Don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks and until next time!

Every now and then I think it’s important to jump outside of your comfort zone and embrace styles that you wouldn’t generally reach for. That being said, to do this successfully, I think one must still incorporate elements of the things they already like so as not to completely feel unlike themselves. For me, this came in the form of a patterned chambray set. As a current lover of co-ords, I was already naturally drawn to this ensemble. However the pattern and pairing of the crop top and wide-legged trousers created a much more bohemian style that I’m not used to wearing day to day. That aside, I was intrigued and willing to give it a try nonetheless. One of the first changes I made to cater this look to my own personal style was wearing the top backwards. While I have no problem with a plunging neckline, I just felt like the illusion of a higher neck and slightly exposed back created a chicer silhouette. I’m always slightly relieved when I come across pieces that are heavily printed because it means I can keep my accessorizing to a minimum. Fortunately this time, because I opted not to carry a bag or layer an outerwear piece, I was determined to find a statement piece of jewelry to add a bit more drama to the outfit. Luckily it didn’t me long to find a beautiful pair of chandelier earrings with the same exact blue that matched my clothing incorporated, as well as gold and wood accents which further emphasized the boho-chic vibe. Since the pants were so long and I knew my shoe would barely be visible, I kept it simple with a pair of minimal brown heeled sandals to tie everything together seamlessly. What I love most about fashion are the opportunities for versatility and risk; because without both of these things our lives and wardrobes would be nothing short of boring. Let me know in the comments below what you think of this look. Until next time!

One of the first looks I shot when I first started my blog was a burgundy suit; and though I don’t wear them often, my love for the style has never faded. In my opinion, there’s something so powerful, chic, and sexy about a woman rocking this tailored look that never ceases to turn heads and stand out from the crowd. Though I felt like I was long overdue to style a set like this, the idea seemed to come at the most perfect time. Fall and Winter florals are a huge trend and this co-ord set couldn’t be more perfect for the season. The contrast of tones on these pieces make for the most beautifully bold, yet unexpectedly neutral look. That being said, I didn’t want to add anything that would distract from the print itself so I gravitated towards all black accessories and gold hardware. I found this mesh bodysuit that I thought was subtle enough not to take away from the ensemble, but still added a bit of edge on its own. Since my bag has a statement ring detail for the handle, I chose to keep things uniform and rock my new gold hoops that I recently picked up as well. It honestly amazes me how we can go through seasons of falling in and out of love with different styles and trends. During my middle and high school days, I was beyond obsessed with gigantic hoop earrings and would never complete an outfit without them. I must say though after years of only rocking studs, I forgot how much I loved the look and might have to start up a new collection again, lol. I have absolutely no complaints about this look and may try to incorporate more sophisticated pieces into my wardrobe this season. Let me know in the comments if you’re a lover of suits or prefer to keep it casual. Until next time!

Though it is long overdue, I am finally getting around to my long awaited, two-part fashion week post. While it has sadly come to an end and since moved on to other countries like London, Milan, and Paris, reminiscing over the incredible week during NYFW is something I hardly mind. While stating the obvious, it’s clear that New York fashion week got off to a rainy start, but a little moisture did not stop the energy in and around the city. The excitement that comes with fashion week is undeniable and the beautiful people that grace the city bring tons of inspiration, celebration, and energy.

Whether day or night, I’ve found that fashion week is a time that brings people together socially and creatively. If you have plans to see the shows or just take in the New York atmosphere, I think one of the most important things to do during this week is just get out there! This is one of the best times to meet people with common interests, network, take pictures, and be a part of amazing events that are only available a few times of year. This is a time like no other in the city where opportunity is everywhere, you just have to be in the right places to receive it.

I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Academy of the Arts fashion show on the second day of NYFW and the experience was nothing short of breathtaking. It was amazing to see the creative works of such young visionaries come to life and I was honored to witness it. Through the madness, constant running around, and endless events, I highly recommend everyone to take a slice of what fashion week has to offer. You will not be disappointed!
