Knitwear, leather, suede, tulle. There’s nothing I enjoy more than adding interest to an ensemble with a variety of textures. Especially when it comes to monochrome looks that don’t have much color differentiation, this is always one of my go-to methods when I want to highlight those eye-catching details. I tried my best to batch as much content as possible so that I could enjoy my time off during the holidays; and when it came to planning my outfits, this sheer skirt was one of the pieces I knew I had to create a moment with! Every now and then I like to take a “fashion risk,” and I knew when I selected this item it would be a bit challenging to style. That said, after having it in my possession for a few weeks, the ideas started to flow and the vison began to form. After doing a deep dive into my existing wardrobe, I stumbled upon this knit bodysuit that I don’t get nearly enough wear out of! Because of the see-through material, comfort was my main priority so opting for something with a full-coverage bottom definitely put me at ease. To take it a step further, I also layered a pair of tights for extra security and a more weather appropriate base. I was surprised to love how everything was coming together, but the look was far from complete. I wanted to add an element of edge so I threw on my favorite oversized distressed leather jacket which coordinated perfectly with the cool tones I was working with. When it came to accessories, “understated glam” was the vibe I was after. Despite incorporating platform heeled sandals, earrings, and a bag featuring rhinestones, I thought they all worked together seamlessly to bring a subtle, less obvious touch of sparkle. Lastly, for a pop of color, I went with a classic red lip and my black everyday sunnies! Personally, I always love when I have the opportunity to really test myself and my skills by styling garments outside of my usual realm. Cheers to taking more chances in 2024 and pushing ourselves to grow through the discomfort! Until next time!

A lot of times it’s hard to get the most use out of garments that are specifically purchased for the season we are currently in. To be honest, majority of the items showcased in this ensemble were bought around Black Friday 2021 and sadly, I’m just now reaching for them. Brown, though extremely trendy, can often be associated with the Fall/Winter months. Knowing this, I was torn between styling them now or waiting until it got cold again but luckily, my excitement got the better of me! In efforts to reflect the “Spring vibes” as much as possible, I knew that my footwear and layering pieces would be crucial. Starting from the bottom, it definitely helped that my trousers though leather also featured cut-out details which really spoke to the warm weather we are slowly beginning to experience. Because I knew that my outerwear was going to be a chunkier monogram cardigan with similar tones, I opted for a stark white cropped tank to break up the chocolate and add an element of brightness to create some much needed dimension. My strappy heeled sandals were the obvious choice as they matched my pants perfectly, and did not weigh the outfit down like a boot or other closed-toe option would. Finally, the accessory I struggled with most had to be, THE BAG! It was tricky because I knew I didn’t want to pair something that was another dark shade, and was also trying to avoid clashing with my sweater’s print. I almost overlooked this cross-body entirely because I frankly thought it would be “too much.” However, after seeing the way everything came together, I couldn’t have made a better choice! I loved how the orange in the illustration helped to highlight the colors in my outwear, which I had hardly noticed prior. To coordinate with the metal accents, I threw on my favorite gold jewelry, some sunnies which helped to complete the monchrome aesthetic, and was ready to roll! Funny enough, I almost scrapped this look entirely and I’m relieved to say I’m so glad I didn’t! Comment below your favorite featured piece and until next time!

Spring is just about here and I couldn’t be more excited to refresh my wardrobe and get back to showcasing some of my favorite new-in pieces! After doing a ton of shopping last month and getting inspired by all of the designers who presented collections during New York, Milan, and Paris fashion week, I was having a hard time trying to figure out which looks I wanted to style first! In my opinion, this ensemble was the best choice to kick off the season as the garments are literally embossed with a quilted floral pattern; I mean, what could be more perfect?! That said, I also wanted to give one final nod to neutrals before we get hit with a full blast of saturation from all of the color-rich trends that seem to be flooding the in-store and online retailers. When I first saw this co-ord set, I was instantly intrigued and knew it would make for a subtle yet eye-catching statement. With 50% of the outfit already established, all I had to do was figure out how I wanted to layer and accessorize to complete my vision. I recently purchased this cropped white shirt, that I already know will soon become a staple in my closet. I love that the shoulder pads allow the top to maintain it’s structure while also adding an elevated twist to a classic everyday piece. Because I was working with a fairly light color palette overall, I had to be very strategic and mindful of my contrasting elements. In efforts to provide a bit of balance to offset the mini skirt, I threw on my tall leather boots in a beige tone which added a casual juxtaposition to the more feminine details. I completed the styling by adding a gorgeous wine-colored bag for a pop of color and a pair of sharp cat eye frames with a tortoise design. I truly enjoyed this look and it definitely has me ready for longer days, warmer temperatures, and the beauty of seeing everything in bloom! This is probably the first Winter season that I have made a conscious effort not to allow the freezing temperatures and gloomy days to affect my mood and as a result, my wardrobe. Now don’t get me wrong, I thrive when it comes to styling black and/or neutral pieces. However, this year, I wanted to challenge myself to allow some bolder colors to have their moment to shine; who said we had to wait for Spring anyway??? To my surprise, many retailers appear to be on the same wavelength as I’ve been seeing TONS of bright hues flooding the shelves and websites lately. Personally, I love seeing the juxtaposition of highly saturated garments in cold-weather fabrics. It’s just something about it that makes dressing for slightly unfavorable weather conditions that much more exciting! During this particular online shopping session, I was instantly drawn to the most gorgeous lilac knitted vest and vibrant fuchsia trousers. While to some, this pairing could be a bit much, for me it was the perfect combination. Because the top was more on the pastel side, it didn’t compete with the vividness of the pants and instead allowed them to be the focal point of the ensemble. I really didn’t want to weigh the look down, so I knew there would be no room for darker shades. Instead, I chose to lean on beige and cream tones to seamlessly tie everything together. Another thing I love about working with lighter colors during the colder months is that you get the opportunity so see all of the intricate details within the textures. To incorporate that cozy essence, I opted for a cropped shearling jacket and completed the outfit with a more rugged croc-embossed boot for a slight contrast. Lastly, I accessorized with a pair of pearlescent chandelier earrings and tan oversized sunnies. In my opinion, this look couldn’t have turned out better and it’s one I definitely plan to recreate very soon! Comment below your favorite featured item and until next time!

When it comes to Fall and Winter textures, the cozier the better! I always find myself gravitating towards chunky cable knit sweaters in a variety of forms, and 2021 has been no different! This year, I was on the hunt for a mini dress that I could wear with taller boots and though initially I was looking for something more relaxed, I couldn’t pass on this fitted style. What truly sold me was the unique patterns and woven stitching that really made this frock an incredible show-stopper! The amount of detail that went into the construction of the piece was unlike anything I had seen on the market thus far, so I knew I had to add it to my collection! As if things couldn’t get any better, upon receiving this garment, I was surprised to find out just how structurally rigid it was. Generally, knit items are known to come with quite a bit of stretch which has its pros and cons. In this instance however, the lack of elasticity worked to my benefit because I didn’t have to worry about it riding up as I walked, which made it a 10 out of 10 without question! At first I thought about layering it under a piece of outerwear, but the distinct intricacies were just too good to hide! That said, I allowed the dress to shine on its own and decided to highlight it with other staple accessories. Using black as my contrasting color, I opted for my newest baguette bag featuring silver zipper accents and my go-to knee high boots. I opted for matching jewelry to keep my hardware consistent and finished off the look with a light tortoise pair of cat-eye frames for an unexpected pop of interest. Though this ensemble didn’t consist of many individual items, each made a statement and came together seamlessly to create a look that I was proud of. We are now officially in the last month of Summer and though I am always excited for the start of Fall, I wanted to create a look that truly captured the essence of the current season. For starters, I knew that this outfit could not have an ounce of black or any dark colors despite my love of contrast. I really wanted to keep the overall ensemble light, fresh, and airy while highlighting some of my favorite styles and pieces. The “milk maid” or bardot trend has remained a flirty staple during the hotter months, and I was instantly drawn to this perforated version from the moment I saw it. I was a bit hesitant because this was an online purchase, however, the quality left me pleasantly surprised. Recently, I also added a pair of cut-out jeans to my collection which were unlike anything I currently own. Though I wasn’t sure how flattering these would look on me, again, I was elated from the moment I tried them on. While this may be a matter of preference, two things that have seemed to go hand-in-hand during this time of year are vacations and gold jewelry. Being a huge fan of both, I really wanted to convey those vibes with my accessories. Heeled sandals are probably my most worn style of shoe during the summertime, so I used this as an opportunity to break out a pair I’ve been dying to wear. In efforts to keep my metals consistent, I grabbed my favorite oversized aviator frames and a dainty pair of hoops. Lastly I incorporated a light charcoal bag featuring a croc design for an added bit of texture and was quite pleased with the look overall! I could definitely see myself wearing this outfit for a variety of occasions while feeling chic, stylish, and on trend. Comment below your favorite featured item and until next time!

Despite the temperatures steadily rising, there has been no shortage of knit garments rolling out from various designers and retailers. I’ve often given thought as to why this could be considering we usually associate this textile with the colder months. That being said, I personally am a fan of the subtle texture and structure that knitwear provides; especially during a time where most people are wearing more common lightweight fabrics such as chiffon, linen, and chambray. When I initially saw this salmon colored co-ord, I was intrigued by the hue but highly skeptical of the fit. Needless to say, I proceeded to place my order and simply hoped for the best. To my surprise the thin and rather clingy fabric was of good quality, and the pieces were extremely comfortable (not overly constricting in any way). This bright shade of coral made the ensemble perfect for the current season and while I was fairly confident wearing it as is, I decided to layer an oversized blazer on top for added elevation and chicness. For shoes, I almost went with something neutral but at the last minute decided to color-block with lime green mules, which created more of a “watermelon-like” palette. To balance the brighter tones and tie in my muted outerwear piece, I added an iridescent pair of sunnies and chandelier earrings featuring pearl accents. Overall, this outfit is more on the preppy side of what I’m used to and definitely had me considering taking up golfing (LOL!). Jokes aside, I’m excited to wear this look out and about and potentially add similar polo-style sets to my wardrobe collection. On today’s episode of “things from my childhood that have influenced my current style,” I chose to once again reference my private school days. I’m not entirely sure what’s happening to me, but the “preppy vibes” have really been making an impact on my wardrobe lately. For this look, though hesitant about the outcome, I knew I wanted to push myself to style a pair of loafers I had recently been gifted. After seeing how effortlessly clean they looked when worn I was eager to give them a try, but upon receiving them, I still wasn’t sure if they were really “ME.” Initially, I figured I might pair them with jeans but after trying it out, I quickly realized that was not the look I was going for. After a few weeks of deliberation, I accumulated more pieces that helped bring my vision to life! Not too long ago I had seen this gorgeous knit appear on one of my favorite websites, and at the time, I didn’t see a need for it as we were moving into the warmer months. That being said, I couldn’t stop thinking about it and eventually had it sent to my doorstep. At this point, the chances of me styling it was either now or in several months so I jumped at the opportunity! In efforts to provide some balance and contrast, I incorporated denim non-distressed shorts in a darker wash. This choice really highlighted the perforated design on the sweater, and added a classic element that was more in line with my footwear option. I personally felt like all 3 of these items coordinated very well and still allowed room for touches of interest that I prefer all of my ensembles to have. To keep things a little edgy, I added my favorite Marc Jacobs crossbody featuring a thick guitar strap with neon monogram. This bag also contained gold hardware which perfectly accentuated the shoe detail, and led to my inclusion of small hoop earrings as well as bold cat-eye aviator sunglasses. I was very pleased with my take on “loafer styling,” and while I could never see myself sporting them with a dress or pant, they will definitely get tons of wear this season and next!
