In the corporate world, the Summer season is a time where the office finally begins to calm down a bit. Everyone is scheduling their vacations, leaving work early for happy hours, and if you’re lucky, making the most of Summer Fridays. While I tend to keep my work life and blog separate, I wanted to style a look that intertwined the two and represented my day to day attire. I decided to create an ensemble that gave a playful take on the business casual look, but was more fitting for social events after hours. More times than not, I usually gravitate towards trousers for the workplace. I’ve also noticed my collection of dress pants rapidly growing over the years with various styles that all seem to contain some form of interest whether it be through color, pattern, or even texture. When I came across this vibrant salmon colored pair, I was immediately intrigued by the classic tapered silhouette and knew they would be a wonderful closet addition. Another popular article of clothing I always reach for is the button up shirt. In my humble opinion, you can never have too many white button-ups (or downs), and I have more than enough to prove it! I love that they each have their subtle differences that make them unique and give a different vibe to each look they are paired with. For instance, it was only until I got very close that I noticed the faded stripes of color that gave a refreshing modern twist on an otherwise basic wardrobe staple. Because I was working with an overall pastel palette, I wanted to accessorize with something that wouldn’t darken the look and add an unnecessarily harsh contrast. Instantly, my favorite pair of metallic heeled sandals came to mind and ended up being the perfect piece to complete this look. To further play off of the shiny accents, I threw on some silver bangles and a gorgeous turquoise pendant necklace for some final feminine touches. I was gifted these pieces by my Father from a recent trip to Mexico, and while I was unsure of how I would style them at first, I don’t think I could have picked a better outfit to showcase them with. Let me know in the comments how you spend your Summer Fridays and how you would describe your go-to style at work. Until next time!

To be honest, this look was completely inspired by street style. I had been seeing so many trendy girls rocking midi-length floral dresses with leather jackets lately, I knew I had to add one to my collection. During the cooler months it’s easy to get stuck in the “pants-only” rut, so I decided to challenge myself and continue to style more feminine pieces for a bit longer. I’ve never been a fan of super bright florals so when I saw this pattern I was instantly attracted to the subdued neutral tones that were incorporated. Aside from that I was also drawn to the lace overlay and the eye catching cold-shoulder detail. All in all, this dress was everything I was looking for and I knew exactly how I wanted to style it! A few blog posts ago, I fell in love with the Stan Smith Adidas sneakers and since then I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of my own. While I didn’t end up getting that exact pair, I opted for the new “superstars” that are just as versatile and fit perfectly into my wardrobe. One color that I don’t typically accessorize with is grey, but I noticed hints of it in the dress and thought it would make for an interesting accent color to tie the look together. With that in mind, I finished the look off with my fringe crossbody bag and matching choker. This ensemble turned out to be everything I had imagined for the fall season and I can’t wait to style this dress again, maybe with some booties and a cute jacket. Who knows what I’ll come up with, but until next time!

While this look is simple, it incorporates just about every popular trend in women’s fashion right now (this was not done on purpose, lol). From the embroidered bomber jacket, to the choker necklace, slip dress, and staple Stan Smith Adidas sneakers…I honestly don’t think I could look like less of a typical “blogger” if I tried. By no means am I complaining though, as I am honestly a lover of each and every one of these trends. Literally, up until the day and time I was ready to shoot this look, I wasn’t quite satisfied. To let you in on a little secret, the sneakers pictured aren’t even mine but I am now determined to own them because of this shoot. I’ve been seeing these sneakers on every blogger and fashion junky religiously for about the last year and a half and while I was planning to steer clear of them for that very reason, I have since been convinced and see why everyone loves them! The comfort alone is a major selling point, but aside from that they really do go with EVERYTHING. I honestly never imagined they would be so versatile with the Kelly green logo but they seem to just….work. Long story short, I had actually brought a pair of white pumps to style with this look but the entire train ride from Harlem to the Soho shooting location, I found myself wishing I had these exact sneakers to wear instead. Luckily, the stars aligned and my awesome photographer happened to be wearing them (in my size) and loaned them to me for the shoot! Yes, she shot in her socks and I will be forever grateful! As stated previously, this look is pretty simple and straightforward. I had been on the hunt for an embroidered bomber that Zara sold about 2 years ago and with no luck finding it, I made my way to Ebay and settled for a dupe (a pretty good one at that)! Because the jacket is so eye-catching, I decided to do without a bag and kept my accessories simple with a black choker and a monogram bar necklace, gifted to me from an amazing jewelry shop based in Brooklyn called Metal Mingle. I am really quite pleased with how this look turned out considering it was so last minute. I guess it never hurts to follow trends every once in a while lol– until next time!

A lot of the popular trends that have been popping up on runways and in retailers everywhere stem from the 90’s era. From slip dresses, crop tops, metallics, and brown lipstick, the influence from that decade is at an all time high. Yet, the biggest trend of them all is everyone’s (including myself) new favorite piece of jewelry, the choker necklace. Personally, I love the variety of these pieces and how they can elevate any outfit no matter how minimal or intricate. Please see below for the chokers that have recently caught my eye. For my second holiday look, I decided to go for another fairly casual outfit with a bit of flare. If you are not the type of girl who is into sequins and wants something slightly less flashy, metallic textures and prints are a great alternative. Though I am personally a fan of sequins, I know that they can sometimes make a garment too heavy or, depending on the placement, can also be rather itchy. Luckily, during the holiday season metallic pieces are also in high demand and can be found in most retailers. Similar to my previous look, I kept the drama on the bottom with a metallic pencil skirt, so I made sure to keep everything quite neutral. With that being said though, I wanted to challenge myself by not using any black pieces so I accessorized with white and grey. I feel like the shoes and clutch added a bright pop to the look and played off of the “winter white” trend that is also quite popular. In efforts to not have the look be too overwhelming, I wore a plain grey cropped tee and just threw on a statement necklace for a little extra shine. Surprisingly, I really like the idea of more casual holiday looks this year. While floor length, sequin gowns are always statement worthy, I think looks like these can allow for less stress and the ability to be more comfortable while focusing on the celebration. But who am I kidding; I could change my mind by New Years. We’ll just have to wait and see I guess! Lol. Until next time!
