I love when classic pieces take on a new life and transform into trends that can create memorable moments within the evolution of style. The deconstructed button-down has done just that and aside from being insanely popular, also displays the more innovative and creative side of the fashion industry. Take a look at the pieces I’ve gathered below and don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks. Until next time!

Choker tees have become quite popular in the realm of  edgy streetstyle lately. Patent pieces have become increasingly popular and trendy in the fashion world lately. Shearling coats, especially in the “biker jacket” style, have been extremely popular this season. While this piece of outerwear may be on the more trendy side, they easily provide a cozy layer of warmth and edge to any look. Whether from a high end designer or more affordable brand, there are so many variations to choose from and I am personally a huge fan! When getting dressed, while I am a lover of intricate outfits, I sometimes forget that basic pieces can also be just as chic. On the days where it seems almost impossible to find something to wear, a simple t-shirt can be a lifesaver. For this look I decided to pair an over-sized, mesh detail slogan tee, with leather biker trousers for a relaxed, yet edgy look. While this ensemble could easily be worn with flats, booties, or sneakers, I chose to add a little more detail with these iridescent single-strap heeled sandals. Throw on a nice fall coat, and you automatically look put together and effortless with hardly any time or energy wasted. For me, looks like these are pretty much my weekend uniform. Whether you are running errands, shopping around, or meeting friends for brunch you can never quite go wrong with this look. I think the key is to choose pieces that are simple but have subtle, eye catching details. Don’t forget, it IS possible to be comfortable and make a statement, so give it a try!

Though it is long overdue, I am finally getting around to my long awaited, two-part fashion week post. While it has sadly come to an end and since moved on to other countries like London, Milan, and Paris, reminiscing over the incredible week during NYFW is something I hardly mind. While stating the obvious, it’s clear that New York fashion week got off to a rainy start, but a little moisture did not stop the energy in and around the city. The excitement that comes with fashion week is undeniable and the beautiful people that grace the city bring tons of inspiration, celebration, and energy.

Whether day or night, I’ve found that fashion week is a time that brings people together socially and creatively. If you have plans to see the shows or just take in the New York atmosphere, I think one of the most important things to do during this week is just get out there! This is one of the best times to meet people with common interests, network, take pictures, and be a part of amazing events that are only available a few times of year. This is a time like no other in the city where opportunity is everywhere, you just have to be in the right places to receive it.

I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Academy of the Arts fashion show on the second day of NYFW and the experience was nothing short of breathtaking. It was amazing to see the creative works of such young visionaries come to life and I was honored to witness it. Through the madness, constant running around, and endless events, I highly recommend everyone to take a slice of what fashion week has to offer. You will not be disappointed!

I decided to go with a more formal look this time around and it seemed only fitting that we take to Wall Street to shoot it. Though it was a little difficult posing and maneuvering on the brick road in my heels, it was definitely fun floating around in this tan midi length skirt. The subtle snake print in the lace top and the dramatic pleats definitely made this look for me. I felt so chic and classy! I also thought it would be a nice touch to separate the two statement pieces with a gold plated belt which served as an eye-catching accessory as well. While I tend to dress more casually on a day to day basis, this was a nice change for me and it made me want to experiment with more dressy pieces.

It brings me great joy to say that this is the first shoot I’ve done since I’ve started my blog that didn’t involve me complaining about being cold lol. We actually shot this on two separate days, first in the lower east side then in midtown, and both were sunny, warm, and beautiful! Though I am still working on my gym routine, I was delighted to show a little midriff with this furry cropped sweater. I pretty much built this ensemble around the “care bear-esque” looking piece and ended up with a look that was somewhat on the icy side. I loved how the different washes of denim and the baby blue top came together to form a monochrome inspired outfit, without being too matchy.
