Another year has come to an end and what a whirlwind it has been! It’s so surreal whenever we get to this point because it’s the only time we truly have a sense of “reset” and starting anew. Personally, while I’m trying to focus on gratitude overall, I also want to take account of everything that did not serve me over the last 365 days. All of the negative thoughts, habits, routines and even people who have no place in the next chapter of my story will be left here in this moment. As I get older, it’s important for me to prioritize healing, growth, and working the plans I’ve made to create the life that I rightfully deserve; and I hope you do the same! I’ve mentioned previously that the Fall and Winter holiday seasons are my favorite, and unfortunately it seems as though they keep flying by faster than the last. Because of that, my enthusiasm towards the festivities was slightly underwhelming and I feel like it reflected in my approach to styling my ensembles. That being said, there was no shortage of sparkle and shine which is really all that matters, right?! I had been on the hunt for a sequin top and actually purchased one but sadly, I was not in love with it. To my surprise, about two weeks later I stumbled upon another one during the Black Friday sales and though it was still a bit more than what I had initially paid for the first option, it was well worth it! The quality and construction of the sequins were infinitely better as well as the gunmetal color which made it more edgy and luxe in my opinion than the typical high-shine silver. In efforts to keep the rest of the look understated, I reached into my closet for a patent mini skirt and layered it with some fishnet tights for added texture and interest. I completed the outfit with a few more “vintage” wardrobe staples, including my pvc slingback heels and houndstooth coat which I honestly do not get enough wear out of! A black leather top-handle bag and signature red lip were all I needed to tie everything together and be ready for an at home or out on the town NYE celebration! I’m leaving 2022 filled with love, light, and optimism for an incredibly abundant 2023. See you there!

As expected, the mildly cool temperatures were short lived and the forecast seems to be dropping rapidly by the day. That said, it still hasn’t stopped me from attempting to get as much wear out of my coats as possible. I believe I mentioned in a previous blog post how important it is to shop at least one season ahead. Aside from just being overly prepared and not left to scramble for the most coveted pieces at that very moment, it also allows you to get the full use out of your items for the timeframe they were intended for. I scored this trench coat (ON SALE) towards the end of the Summer and while it did feel a bit strange shopping for outerwear at the time, it couldn’t have been a more perfect decision. Upon receiving it, I instantly fell in love with the color, length, and oversized relaxed fit that gave an effortless edge to anything I paired it with. Despite already planning to keep my ensemble fairly casual, I still wanted to add some interest with a variety of textures. Another recent wardrobe addition was this black corset that was also a must-have at first glance. Bustier tops have been absolutely everywhere over the last few years and the trend does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. For a bit of added warmth, I layered it with a sheer turtleneck and my vision was nearly complete! I chose to ground the look with some light-wash denim and a sleek sock bootie (I’ll always take the extra height, LOL). While I was pleased with the outfit overall, I still felt like there was room for a few more eye catching elements. In efforts to not go too far outside of the color palette, I decided to incorporate a pony hair cow-print bag and some green acetate frames for a subtle punch of color. Though the year is quickly coming to an end, the looks won’t be slowing down whatsoever! Comment below your favorite featured item and until next time!

Anyone who is even remotely into fashion, or shopping for that matter, knows that most designers are usually at least one season ahead when it comes to production. This means, that although it may still be hot outside, you will begin to see heavier pieces like knits and jackets slowly being integrated onto retailer’s websites and in stores. By this time of year, I am absolutely anticipating the Fall season and strategically buying garments that I know for a fact can be styled during the cooler months. (PRO-TIP: Start looking for key staples like leather jackets, trench coats, knitwear, etc. now because by the time you need them they’ll be sold out and/or severely marked up in price!) Being a style blogger, I am usually in the know about a lot of things regarding upcoming trends and fashion forecasts. That being said, one of my favorite things has to be learning from other creators in this space especially when it comes to new brands that I’ve never heard of or are based outside of the U.S. regions. My slip dress collection has definitely grown over the years, but this particular frock may be my favorite one to date. Aside from the rich color and smooth metallic-like finish, the double-lined fabric and seamless fit were an absolute dream! I’ve always considered these dress styles more on the casual side, but this one changed my perspective entirely and proved that they can be worn even in more formal settings. In efforts to keep it as the focal point of the ensemble, I chose an understated and slightly monochrome color palette to complete the outfit. I opted to layer with a neutral beige blazer, and contrast with a textured black handbag and mules. On this rare occasion, I chose to forego sunglasses but stuck to my usual gold jewelry as a final touch. This ensemble definitely gave me all of the autumnal feels and dare I say, ready for Summer to come to an end??? Comment below your favorite featured item and until next time!

As much as I’ve been embracing bold color trends lately, Summer whites, linens, and neutrals will always be classic seasonal staples! I love the fact that my wardrobe has gotten to such a cohesive place that regardless of when or where I buy a particular item, I can always ensure it will align with a variety of things I already own. Though I am not the biggest fan of white jeans, I happened to come across this gorgeous pair of tailored wide-legged trousers and simply couldn’t pass them up! Since they were already so long and voluminous, I knew that a cropped top would be my best option to not offset the proportions of the ensemble. Despite also getting much more experimental with my dress collection, it’s no secret that statement tops will forever be a prevalent garment and favorite when it comes to my personal style. What I loved most about this specific piece was the fitted bodice and puffy sleeves that brought a touch of drama while still keeping with the light and airy vibe overall. To further accentuate this beachy theme, I knew that tonal accessories would be my only option! I didn’t want to over-complicate the look by incorporating a pop of color and anything black just felt too harsh of a contrast. I recently purchased these tan lace up heeled sandals which perfectly matched a wooden crossbody bag I’ve had for quite a few years now. In efforts to compliment the natural textures, I threw on my go-to rings and a beautiful set of gold earrings that resembled the sun and seamlessly tied all elements of the outfit together. With my oversized aviator sunnies as a final touch, I was ready for the chicest sunset soiree and dancing into the night! Comment below your favorite featured item and until next time!

As the weather heats up, the more effortless my style becomes and with that, the more I gravitate towards my go-to “uniform.” While some may perceive me as quite “girly,” 90% of the time I’m actually in jeans/trousers. For me, especially when it comes to how I put looks together, I typically feel most comfortable with the top half of my ensemble making the statement while keeping the bottom on the more casual side. I purchased black pants in a similar design last year and when I saw that another brand offered them in beige, I knew they would make for another great closet staple! Unlike the previous pair, these were insanely long but I still managed to make it work for the photoshoot. After doing a bit more browsing online, I saw that the same brand also sold a chic open-back knit polo in a muted green shade. Once I received both items, it was clear that they were essentially meant to be worn together because of how well the garments complimented each other. The softness of the tones and slightly cropped hem of the top seamlessly grazed the high-waisted trouser and couldn’t have been more perfect! Because of the color palette I was working with, I immediately knew that black would be too harsh of a contrast. Instead, I opted for brown accessories which allowed for a more understated juxtaposition. After deciding on my footwear and sunnies, instead of incorporating a matching bag, I figured a white option would be a better suited choice in terms of adding interest and highlighting the unique fold-over detail. Lastly I threw on a few pieces of gold jewelry and was ready for my close up! Outfits like this show that you don’t need the flashiest pieces to stand out. Just a few unexpected design elements can really make your look one to be remembered without overwhelming the onlooker. Comment below your favorite featured piece and until next time!

As Spring approaches, there always seems to be an excitement that comes along with this time of year. Warmer temperatures, outdoor activities, and cleansing my personal space to make way for new positive energy, are just a few of the things I look forward to most. In addition to that, I’d be lying if I said refreshing my wardrobe wasn’t also at the top of the list! While I don’t buy into every trend, I love to see which ones are making a statement and resurfacing as the year progresses. Though I wouldn’t say it’s “new,” I definitely think we’ll be seeing an abundance of color in 2021. Aside from the fact that bolder, brighter shades can be seen as an energy/mood boosters, I think that just about everyone is ready to step out of their comfort zone and experiment with fashion after being confined to loungewear for over a year. Personally, I’ve already noticed shades of yellow seeping into my closet more than even before; and I’m not mad at it! While browsing some of my favorite online retailers, I stumbled across this wool sweater dress and was instantly drawn to it. Often we associate these type of frocks with the Fall/Winter seasons and are used to seeing them worn in darker or more neutral hues. Needless to say, I decided to give it a try and couldn’t be happier with my choice! Being a lover of pastels, this eye-catching piece was definitely a seamless fit for my style, not to mention how flattering the silhouette was overall. For an element of contrast, I chose to layer the dress with a plaid blazer featuring a variety of cool grey tones. I also added a pair of brown knee-high boots and matching sunglasses in efforts to warm up the color palette, which in my opinion really helped balance the ensemble. I opted to keep my jewelry dainty yet striking with layered gold necklaces and a couple chunky rings. This outfit definitely exceeded my expectations and has me ready to step into the next few months more daring and playful especially when it comes to my styling choices. If I’m thinking optimistically, it might be safe to say that this will be my last Winter styling post until later in the year. This season has been a pretty brutal one weather wise, and while it was quite beautiful to see, I think I can wait until the end of 2021 before witnessing another snowflake fall. I’ve noticed a lot of brands coming out with Spring and even Summer items; and though it feels a bit too soon to purchase, it won’t be long before those seasons are directly upon us. I saw this neutral tube dress and initially looked at it as completely unwearable at the present moment. That said, I still listened to my gut and decided to buy it anyway. Understandably, it may have made the most sense to just wait to style it, but I couldn’t help myself! Instantly I began brainstorming different ways to make this piece more weather appropriate and layering was probably the most obvious solution. Because the frock was already a knit material, I didn’t want to pair another sweater-like garment underneath. As if the timing could not have been any better, I remembered that I was recently sent a pinstriped shirt which became the perfect complimentary piece. I decided to really lean into this preppy style by fastening all of the buttons for a more classic and modest vibe. Though we still have a few more weeks left of cold, I’m officially ready to embrace the lighter colors in my closet so I chose not to weigh down the outfit with black shoes. Instead, I reached for a pair of cream-colored ankle booties, which seemed to elevate everything quite nicely. For added warmth, I threw on an old longline denim jacket which I surprisingly still get compliments on every time I pull it out of my wardrobe. As far as accessories go, I opted for an opalescent pair of sunglasses and chandelier earrings featuring pearl accents which really tied the two together seamlessly. Lastly, I grabbed a navy bag for a slight contrast and my ensemble was complete! I loved how this look turned out and was happy to challenge myself by creating a cold-weather outfit that didn’t feel weighed down by an abundance of dark shades. As we make our way through the final Summer months, the excitement of new trends begin to fill my mind and my style becomes more minimal as I prepare for my favorite layering season. I personally love this look because it is absolutely effortless yet still weather appropriate and chic! Biker shorts are still proving to be a closet essential and though I don’t own many pairs, they definitely come in handy on those super casual days. I chose to balance the spandex with an over-sized striped poplin shirt which really ensured my comfort level was on 1000! While I could have maintained the overall simplicity with a sneaker or flat shoe, this seemed like the perfect opportunity for a statement heel; and lucky for me, I had just bought some. These strappy nude sandals featuring a bright blue bubble heel, instantly elevated this outfit and truly made me feel like I was walking on a piece of art. For those who know me, outerwear, shoes, and accessories (specifically sunglasses and handbags) are typically where I implement the “wow factor” in most of my looks and this one was no exception! To finish off the ensemble I grabbed an old ring handle bag and a few gold pieces of jewelry to coordinate with its hardware. For one last subtle yet unexpected twist, I threw on a pair of tortoise cat-eye sunglasses instead of a black style, as I felt that they highlighted the warmth in the outfit, despite my cool-toned top being a focal piece. Needless to say, I’m ready to give my Autumnal wardrobe a bit of a refresh and break out those knits and blazers that have been hiding in the back of my closet. Can you believe we’re more than half way through 2020?!?!! Comment below what you’re looking forward to most during the upcoming season, and until next time!

Over the years, as my knowledge and experience in the fashion/influencer space has grown, so have my viewpoints. For instance, despite what has been portrayed in the past, an ensemble can be both casual and chic. Although this may be obvious to some, displaying your personal style as a job can come with tons of pressure and it’s easy to get caught up in the hype of only showcasing the most intricate of looks. In my opinion, one of the easiest tricks for elevating a more casual outfit would have to be sticking to a monochrome color palette. Regarding this particular look, I had no specific direction when it came to my initial styling, so relying on this tip definitely helped me pull everything together. During my browsing, I came across these straight-legged jeans and instantly realized that I had nearly let an entire decade pass without owning a grey pair! After deciding these would serve as my base, I began to search for items to pair them with. At first, I began reaching for more colorful garments to offset the darkness of the trousers; but to no avail, I opted for an embellished sweater in a similar shade. Another fashion hack I’ve grown to love and appreciate is incorporating a variety of textures. I was quite a fan of the rigid denim against the soft texture of the mohair top, as well as the eye-catching sparkle of the rhinestones. To complete the outfit, I kept it simple with a square-toed pair of black booties and 90’s inspired frosted frames. Though there still seems to be a huge emphasis on accessories, I’d like to get back to relying on the clothes themselves as the focal point of my looks in 2020. There’s nothing like having quality and timeless pieces that can be recycled for years to come and I intend to keep my wardrobe full of them. Until next time!

Of all the days to wear a monochrome-cream outfit, I would choose a day when it was pouring outside. As we move out of the Summer months, unfortunately the risk of unfavorable weather conditions increase. That being said, since I tend to shoot most of my looks outside, it is nice that I live in a major city where there are tons of amazing locations indoors as well, specifically for times like this. In efforts to escape the downpour, I was lucky enough to stumble upon an eccentric boutique named, “American Two Shot.” As soon as I stepped inside and saw the fusion of music, fashion, and photography, as well as a plethora of other quirky trinkets, I knew I had found the perfect spot! Coincidentally, their front display also had the same contrasting palette as my ensemble so it was a minimal match made in heaven! My look was pretty much inspired by off-duty 90’s model vibes, so I chose to style a sleek sleeveless ribbed turtleneck and wide-legged trousers in the same color. I wanted to keep it simple while also making it a point to dispel any, “no white after Labor Day” rumors. I loved how the thick black belt helped to clearly define each piece, and the silver hardware allowed me to pile on my matching accessories that I’ve literally been obsessed with lately. To be completely honest, everything I mentioned thus far was exactly how I showed up; and unfortunately, I still felt like my look was incomplete. Though I was prepared to shoot my outfit as is, I knew I would only be about 85% happy with the outcome overall. As I began to look around the shop and take in all of the details, I instantly stopped when I came across a table full of super cool and unique frames. As I began to do a scan of the styles, my eyes were drawn to a vintage-looking matte black pair featuring circle lenses. The store employees had graciously offered to let me use anything in the store to enhance my shoot, and as soon as I tried on those sunnies I knew I had found the missing link! All in all, the photo shoot ended up being successful and I was able to find a new place to shop in the process which was definitely a win-win for me!
