Denim. Shearling. Tortoise. Leather.

All standout elements that come to mind when I think about the pieces that I want to reflect and highlight my Fall/Winter style. Regardless of how my wardrobe continues to evolve, they always remain a constant with each passing season. I can absolutely admit that my skirt collection has grown exponentially, and while that may be overkill for some, I can appreciate the varying details and uniqueness they bring to each ensemble. For this particular cut-out design, I was immediately intrigued by the voluminous shape the garment held and even more sold on the movement it created with every step. Neutral tones always seem to be a match made in heaven with the autumnal months, and I fully embraced them with this styling session. I decided to throw on a tan ribbed asymmetric bodysuit as my base layer, and further built upon the texture with a cropped cream shearling jacket. Because the overall color palette was fairly light at this point, I chose to ground the look with a rich chocolate croc-embossed pair of boots. As far as accessories go, I kept things fun and coordinated with a beige-hued crossbody featuring abstract drawings by Jean Michel Basquiat and geometric sunnies that perfectly matched the buttons on my top. In efforts to keep the hardware accents consistent, I completed the outfit with chunky gold hoops, dainty rings, and was finally ready for whatever this crisp Fall day had to offer! While it is my favorite season, it seems to be getting shorter with every year so I always feel rushed to wear the items that can stand alone before I’m forced to cover them with much heavier coats. Comment below one piece you’ve been consistently reaching to style this season, as well as your favorite featured item! Until next time!

Quality over quantity; ALWAYS. As I’ve begun tailoring my wardrobe to more contemporary styles, this statement rings true more than ever! While I would previously focus on and shop for pieces that peaked my interest in the current moment, I now make it a point to only purchase items that I absolutely love and most importantly ones that will last. In preparation for a store’s grand opening, I was kindly granted the opportunity to select a look from the brand to keep and wear for the celebratory evening. Without even looking at the price tags, I was quickly drawn to this leather co-ord in the most gorgeous caramel shade. The supple texture and intricate stitching had me sold from the beginning, but the seamless fit was easily the icing on the cake! I loved the chic yet modern vibe that these garments displayed and I felt comfortable knowing that they resonated so well with my personal style. Since my ensemble was already nearly complete, it was really just a matter of deciding what my contrasting color would be. Though I initially pulled a cream colored tank to tie everything together during my fitting, I ultimately chose to go with all black, mainly to showcase a new closet addition I’m currently obsessed with. I had been on the hunt for this short-sleeved turtleneck for months and had placed at least 3-5 orders which to my disappointment were all canceled due to inventory issues. Finally however, after much continued persistance, I was able to secure the piece that had literally been haunting me for far too long. For accessories I went with a few of my classic most-worn favorites including heeled sandals, sunnies, and a cross-body bag featuring gold hardware that I opted to carry as a top handle. I finished the outfit with simple jewelry and was left feeling like a complete boss! Comment below your favorite featured item and until next time!

In the spirit of taking on new challenges in 2019, I ended up styling a look that I honestly shocked myself with. While it wasn’t the garments that were outside of my comfort zone, but the COLOR that truly made me think twice about a few of my life choices (dramatic I know). If anyone knows me, it’s no secret that I’m not a “pink” type of chick. That being said, coming up with new ways to wear the same black, white, and grey pieces during the Winter season can get a bit stale. I’ve had this salmon colored ribbed turtleneck for quite some time and simply thought of it as another basic piece to layer with when I wanted to add a pop of color to my ensemble. During a recent shopping trip however, I stumbled upon this plaid midi-skirt with a variety of similar shades, in addition to stripes of blush, and white. I couldn’t help but pick it up, as it was definitely striking, but I wasn’t exactly sure if it was “me.” After doing a few more laps and even leaving the store, I eventually decided to commit to the rosy garment hoping all would work out. It wasn’t until I got home and began rummaging through my drawers that I saw the outfit coming together right before my eyes! In all honesty, I thought it was a risky move to pair the skirt with a top of essentially the same tone, but the monochromatic lover in me was all for it! By this point I was sold on the vision and decided to play off of the plaid pattern further by incorporating my cream calf boots, which I had been itching to style for what has felt like decades! The shoes definitely gave a nod to the chicness of the 60’s and helped tie everything together in the most perfect way. Lastly, I wanted to add a bag as a final touch; however, because I was working with a fairly light color palette, I didn’t want anything that would appear too harsh. As a compromise, I decided on a brown bucket bag with crocodile embossed leather. To compliment the silver accents, I threw on my favorite pair of geometric earrings and was ready to go! It truly is the most wonderful time of the year; well, at least in my opinion. Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I am probably my happiest as soon as the holidays come around. I am all about getting into the spirit of giving and spending quality time while making lasting memories with those I cherish. So, to kick off my holiday content, I was thrilled when I was contacted for the second time by a notable brand I had the pleasure of working with in the past, Daniel Wellington. Because they are so well known for their timelessly chic watches, I was beyond excited when I was given the opportunity to participate in their holiday campaign! This season they decided to showcase their new Holiday Bundle Box which (for women) consists of the watch of your choice as well as a matching DW cuff bracelet. Though I am usually pretty basic when it comes to my accessories, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and go for the rose gold option. Now I know this may not seem like a big deal to some, but I tend to keep it simple with either traditional silver or gold pieces. Since I was feeling daring however, I chose to reflect that in my ensemble as well. I had recently been on the hunt for a cozy off the shoulder sweater so when I stumbled across this neutral oatmeal colored option, I knew it had to be mine! At this point, I wasn’t working with much and still needed to find a piece that complimented the watch so, my search continued. Luckily, it didn’t take long before I found a multicolored striped skirt that captured my attention the second I laid eyes on it. Initially I thought this piece was a bit too flashy for my taste, but then I figured, “It’s the holiday season, go for it!”– and so I did. As I looked closer, I was inspired by the variety of metallic shades incorporated in this garment and chose to do a bit of metal mixing myself. Instead of keeping with the rose gold theme, I decided to switch things up and add a pair of silver strappy sandals to the mix. In efforts to stay weather appropriate while adding another layer of interest, I also chose a cute pair of socks to wear with my heels. This is a style I’ve seen become increasingly popular over the last few years and I have quickly become a fan! I mean, with this trend there’s no need to put your Summer footwear in storage for half of the year; so what’s not to love?! I was quite pleased with how this look turned out and it definitely made me want to dive into the festivities even more! So with that being said, please feel free to use my code: ASTYLEDMIND15 for 15% off when you order on www.danielwellington.com! This order is valid through 2/28/19 so you have more than enough time to browse the site and check out some goodies for that special person in your life! Happy holidays, and until next time!

With spring comes warm weather, and warm weather brings tons of outdoor activities! I decided to switch gears and create a more casual look for the “girl on the go” who can easily make the transition from brunch to the park. The first piece I came across during my shopping trip was a mismatched button up. I was instantly drawn to the contrasting striped pattern which made the top incredibly eye-catching and unique in comparison to the average dress-shirt. From this point I was pretty set on finding a pair of jeans to complete this look but to my surprise that task ended up being much harder than I had expected. For whatever reason, I simply couldn’t find a pair of denim that satisfied my vision for this ensemble and after hours of searching I was ready to give up and recycle something from my existing wardrobe. In a last stitch effort however, I paired the top with a light wash denim midi skirt, and instantly knew I had found what I was looking for. To offset the more feminine pieces, I chose to wear a pair of sneakers which added a cool “tom-boy” vibe to the overall look. Lastly, I decided to try something new and take a risk with an accessory that has been trending for the last few seasons. I was never really interested in the idea of a fanny pack, however I’d be lying if I said the practicality of the item didn’t somewhat intrigue me. That being said, I decided to introduce a pop of color with a bright red waist bag that ultimately tied the entire outfit together seamlessly. This was a very simple look; however I loved the mixture of smart and casual pieces. I definitely plan on creating more day to day styles with similar elements in the upcoming seasons and I also plan to get the most use out of my new bag! Comment below your opinion of fanny packs and whether you think they can be chic given the right styling. Until next time!

Fashion and style in many ways are a universal reflection of our society, and because of that we sometimes see trends appear that directly correlate with the climate of the culture. For decades women’s rights have been a huge topic in politics, and recently it seems as though we have entered a new age of feminism where the notion of “girl power” is at an all time high. That said, it is no surprise that slogan tees with feminist messages have been quite popular among various designers and brands. As a young woman I fully understand and can identify a lot of the challenges we still face to this day in terms of inequality, and because of that I was hesitant to jump on this trend and perpetuate turning this ongoing fight into a shallow fashion statement. After much thought however, I realized that many creatives use their artistic self expression to take a stand and when I purchased this t-shirt I was determined to wear it proudly. I’ve had this distressed denim midi skirt for a few months now so I was absolutely thrilled when I finally found a top to pair it with. Because both pieces are pretty casual, I decided to dress up the look by pairing it with white pumps instead of my go-to sneakers (which I would still totally wear any day, lol). For accessories, I threw on a simple black choker and my prescription frames, but honestly still felt like something was missing. Up until minutes before I was going to shoot this look I felt like I needed a bag or a piece of outerwear to complete it. Finally, I decided to keep it simple and let the ensemble speak for itself. In this case, less was definitely more and I was quite pleased with how it turned out. Leave a comment below on your thoughts about worldly events overlapping with fashion. Until next time!
