When it comes to fashion, there are two things I’ve found myself being consistently drawn to as we approach the Summer season: black garments and chunky gold accents! Not sure if this comes as a surprise, but it’s a pattern I’ve noticed and am fully embracing all 2023. Living in and around New York City my entire life, it’s no secret that black will forever be known as a “year-round” color. Despite it’s reputation for absorbing too much heat, it seems like the coolest people are the ones that can pull it off effortlessly no matter what the weather conditions are…pun intended. Personally, I also find that when I come across a piece that is a bit outside of my comfort zone, wearing it in this shade always seems more manageable and familiar; and this voluminous frock was no exception. When I initially spotted this dress, I saw it in a floral motif that while pretty, didn’t really feel like “me” and was way too girly for my liking. Luckily, to my benefit, it also came in another option and I was quick to make it mine! I absolutely loved the juxtaposition of the ultra-feminine design and the stark opaqueness of the gown which brought out an unexpected edginess that I thoroughly enjoyed! At this point, all there was left to do was accessorize and I had some exciting new wardrobe additions in mind! In efforts to mirror the lace up back detail, I grabbed these amazing sandals featuring a bold chain-link heel. To further play up the gold hardware and add another element of interest, I decided to include this lime colored bag which helped to capture the brightness of the season in a fun, yet subtle way. After adding my jewelry and a sleek pair of sunnies, I was feeling confidently chic and ready for whatever the day had in store. My favorite season is officially here and I am currently embracing all of the Autumnal vibes! This time of year is all about the various brown, orange, plum, and burgundy tones, so it was only right that I kick off this look with that color palette in mind. Though I have been quite vibrant lately, I decided to scale it back and dabble in some deeper shades. As soon as I spotted (haha, get it?) this frock, I knew that it would be the perfect piece to add to my Fall wardrobe. Though mostly black, I thought the addition of the rust colored polka dots, really elevated this dress and made it more eye-catching. The combination of short sleeves, high neck, and asymmetrical hem also added a chic sophistication that truly made this garment a “must-have” for me. In efforts to show off the open-back detail, I decided against a jacket but stayed seasonally appropriate with a pair of heeled sock booties– which are surprisingly a lot more comfortable than they look! At this point I felt like the ensemble was nearly complete, however I still wanted to add something that was a bit of a wild card. Luckily, I stumbled across a small structured bag with a giant tortoiseshell ring detail that perfectly coordinated with the pattern on the dress. To finish off the look, I chose to keep my makeup slightly more vampy with a dark lip and bronze eye.  My final accessory was a pair of emerald statement earrings by Kendra Scott, which added another pop of color and added to the Earth tones I featured with this outfit. Let me know in the comments whether or not you’re excited for the change in season, and what Fall/Winter essentials you can’t wait to pull out of hibernation! Until next time!

Two thoughts came to mind when I first laid eyes on the dress: “It’s absolutely stunning and it totally reminds me of something that would’ve been worn in the 70’s!” As we all know, I am VERY picky when it comes to the floral prints I wear and typically tend to gravitate towards pieces that I can pair with other neutral items. That being said, deciding to purchase this pleated maxi was slightly out of my comfort zone considering there was no way I could really tone down the vibrant head-to-toe print. All in all, I decided to take the plunge and add this gorgeous dress to my collection. Another thing that is pretty common throughout my style is my love of contrast, so a major selling point for me with this garment was the subtle but edgy rhinestone detailing along the bust and arm seams. In efforts to continue embracing the Summer colors and further accentuate the retro vibe, I purchased a pair of aviators with orange tinted lenses that ended up looking pretty cool if I do say so myself. While paying homage to decades past, tinted frames have become quite popular this year starting with yellow lenses and quickly expanding to pretty much any color you can think of. I’m personally a huge fan of this trend and thought these frames made for the perfect accessory to add to this look. I kept my footwear simple with a pair of minimal block heeled sandals and was good to go! After taking a week’s long vacation, it feels great to get back to posting and I hope you guys like this look as much as I enjoyed styling it! Let me know your opinions in the comments below and whether you think there’s such thing as too much floral, lol. Until next time!
