When it comes to fashion, there are two things I’ve found myself being consistently drawn to as we approach the Summer season: black garments and chunky gold accents! Not sure if this comes as a surprise, but it’s a pattern I’ve noticed and am fully embracing all 2023. Living in and around New York City my entire life, it’s no secret that black will forever be known as a “year-round” color. Despite it’s reputation for absorbing too much heat, it seems like the coolest people are the ones that can pull it off effortlessly no matter what the weather conditions are…pun intended. Personally, I also find that when I come across a piece that is a bit outside of my comfort zone, wearing it in this shade always seems more manageable and familiar; and this voluminous frock was no exception. When I initially spotted this dress, I saw it in a floral motif that while pretty, didn’t really feel like “me” and was way too girly for my liking. Luckily, to my benefit, it also came in another option and I was quick to make it mine! I absolutely loved the juxtaposition of the ultra-feminine design and the stark opaqueness of the gown which brought out an unexpected edginess that I thoroughly enjoyed! At this point, all there was left to do was accessorize and I had some exciting new wardrobe additions in mind! In efforts to mirror the lace up back detail, I grabbed these amazing sandals featuring a bold chain-link heel. To further play up the gold hardware and add another element of interest, I decided to include this lime colored bag which helped to capture the brightness of the season in a fun, yet subtle way. After adding my jewelry and a sleek pair of sunnies, I was feeling confidently chic and ready for whatever the day had in store. Believe it or not, this was my first official photoshoot of 2023 and surprisingly it came with a lot more anxiety than expected. I am approaching my 8th year of blogging and despite having done it for so long, after the holiday reset plus taking nearly a month off, I seemed to be second guessing myself more than ever. Though I am comfortable in my style and how I showcase it, for whatever reason it took me a bit longer to get back in the swing of things this time around. That said, with NYFW quickly approaching I knew I couldn’t stay in that mindset for too long as there are many exciting looks I have (and have yet) to plan for! I purchased this jumpsuit towards the end of last year and instantly fell in love from the moment I tried it on. Cargos have been a huge trend, which appear to be here to stay, so I was thrilled to be able to experiment with them via this garment. Because of the current temperatures, I knew layering would be a must and though I had quite a few options to choose from, I decided to keep it sleek and simple with a sleeveless bodysuit in a similar shade. Since I was now working with a fairly dark monochrome base, I chose to lighten up the ensemble with my outerwear and bag choice. My collection of coats has definitely grown over the years and while it may seem excessive to some, in my humble opinion, they all serve a different purpose, mood, and style. Since my overall look was casual, I opted for a relaxed fitting taupe number which still provided a cozy yet effortless statement. For footwear, a classic sock bootie seemed like the best option, however I made sure to incorporate some playfulness with a bold geometric shaped cross-body. Lastly, to tie in the gold hardware, I threw on an abstract hoop earring and my favorite chic rectangular sunnies. I understand this may not be the most complex outfit, but I believe that is the beauty of minimalism and the subtle impact it can provide. I’m interested to see the direction my expression through clothing takes in 2023 and I hope you’ll enjoy what is to come! Until next time!

Accessories, or “outfit enhancers” were never a focal point for me or what I had ever considered a top priority when it came to styling my looks. I think because I’m such a creature of habit, for a long time having neutral shoes, bags, and essentially wearing the same jewelry daily was enough for me and I let the ensemble itself be the statement. That being said, over the last few years my perspective has definitely changed and I’ve grown to see their importance as well as find enjoyment in expanding my personal collection. Let’s start from the top, shall we?! I saw this necklace on one of my favorite fashion content creators and from that moment on, it never left my brain. The two-toned metals, chunky construction, and overall boldness constantly replayed in my head to the point where I had to at least do some research and see if it was a feasible investment. To no surprise, it was not a cheap accessory but it also wasn’t completely out of reach either. After a bit more digging, I found an online boutique that had it in stock at a pretty significant discount and saw that as a sign to pull the trigger! While I knew this piece could literally go with just about anything, whether toned down or for a more formal occasion, I still wanted to wait until I found something that really peaked my interest before showcasing it. When given the opportunity to partner with one of my favorite retailers, I stumbled upon this olive mini dress and though I didn’t get it right in that moment, the color and plunging neckline alone was enough to make me add it to my wish list. It didn’t take long before I went back for the frock and just as expected, my vision was nearly complete! From that brand collaboration also came these incredible shoes and yes, they’re wedges! Though I am a “heel girl,” this particular style is one that I was convinced I would NEVER revisit. However, as soon as I laid my eyes on these architectural beauties, I was sold and knew I needed these works of art in my wardrobe! To complete the look and tie everything together, I decided to add some texture with what is easily becoming one of my most worn bags. Lastly, I threw on some classic black rectangular frames and a red lip for an extra pop of color! I was beyond pleased with how this outfit came together and am looking forward to playing around with a lot more eye-catching accessories as we head into the Fall season. As much as I love shopping, there’s nothing more exciting than rediscovering pieces in your wardrobe that you either forgot about, or for whatever reason no longer gravitate towards. For this particular shoot, I actually went shopping and bought a few new items because I felt like I had “nothing to wear.” To my disappointment, I wasn’t very impressed with any of the things I picked up during that trip and instead of forcing it and styling something I wasn’t in love with, I opted to take another look through my own closet to see what I could find. I purchased this dress during the Fall of last year, and never had the opportunity to wear it; that is, until now! I remember what initially caught my eye was the illusion of a shirt-skirt combo. I also loved the balance that the garment provided by being slightly oversized on top and more fitted on the bottom. Once I realized my foundation was set, I decided not to overthink the ensemble and just compliment it with some of the classic pieces I personally cherish and enjoy. Because this frock was quite mini, I felt like adding an oversized blazer would help with the proportions and incorporate a bit of modesty. Keeping the weather in mind however, and trying my best not to overheat, I reached for my lace up flat-form sandals which bring an edginess to any outfit I pair them with. For accessories (sunglasses aside), I wanted to break up the shades of black with a wine-colored handbag and it made for the perfect subtle pop of color. After layering on some gold jewelry, I was beyond satisfied and ready to live the street-style fantasy! This look definitely ended up being more “off-duty” inspired with the combination of traditional capsule collection must-haves and a few more modern elements that kept it exciting and fresh. As a fashion content creator, it’s easy to get caught up in the pressures of constantly feeling the need to always show the newest styles and trends. That said, sometimes just taking a new approach to your closet staples will do the trick in the most effortless way! Comment below your favorite featured item and until next time!

As my style evolves, I find myself not only integrating new pieces but also replacing older ones that have served their purpose and/or need to be updated in terms of quality. I had recently been on the hunt for a new faux leather trench that could fulfill my “90’s matrix” fantasy and for whatever reason, I was having trouble finding one that truly spoke to me. That said, it only took one coffee shop date in SOHO to finally find exactly what I was looking for! In my opinion, that’s one of the most amazing things about living in/near a major city; the inspiration! Whether it be art, music, food, or fashion there is so much you can absorb from the moment you leave your door, and that’s something I’ll always appreciate. Luckily it didn’t take long to receive the coat and despite a few minor sizing issues, I was more than satisfied with my purchase! To be honest, I’ve gotten a few pieces in the mail over the last few months (and even last year) that I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to style. For this ensemble however, I’d say it was one of the most low maintenance yet impactful looks I’ve ever put together. Lately, I’ve really been into minimal tops with interesting details, and this knit was no different! I’ve had plenty of crop tops in this style but the overall chunkiness and cut-outs completely sold me, and I knew I had to have it! At this point I was committed to the monochrome theme, and realized I still hadn’t worn this unique pair of wide-legged trousers that have been in my wardrobe for quite some time. What I loved most about the design was the “fold-over” element which made the pants that much more intriguing, while also breaking up the various shades of black. Finally, for footwear, I decided to incorporate a bit of playfulness and ground the outfit with some acid green metallic mules which I could not be more obsessed with! Since I already had so much going on, I decided to forego a bag and complete the look with sleek sunnies and simple stud earrings. Everything about this styling exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be rocking it again sooner than later! Comment below your favorite featured item and until next time!
