DAY ONE:

It’s so crazy how even though I try to mentally prepare for New York Fashion Week, it always has a way of sneaking up on me. This season, I have to admit that I was VERY last minute in confirming events, organizing my schedule, and planning my looks– actually, I had no clue what I was wearing until the morning of (lol). One of the most challenging parts about fashion week in February, is figuring out the balance of showing off your look while still trying to remain as warm as possible. That being said, there are definitely some people that throw caution to the wind and just grin and bear it in the name of fashion; however, I am not one of those people. As this happened to be the coldest day I’d be out and about, I knew I couldn’t go wrong with layers. The foundation of my look was simple, with a thin cream colored turtleneck and my favorite pair of straight-legged denim. From there, I continued to add to the ensemble by adding a checked blazer and my white booties. As this was pretty warm toned overall, my footwear definitely helped add the bit of contrast I was looking for. Finally, I finished off the look with a vintage reversible suede and fur coat given to me by my mother, a pair of gold circle-framed sunnies, and my ring handle bag. I absolutely loved the outcome of this look and how all of the pieces complimented each other in the chicest of ways!

DAY TWO:

The next day, I was happy to see that the forecast predicted warmer temperatures; unfortunately, rain was also to be expected. While this look had less visible layers, I knew that if I styled them correctly I could get away with not wearing a coat and being fairly warm. I was actually baking at certain parts of the day, but it was definitely worth it as the night wore on. Underneath this chunky knit was a fitted tank top, as well as a thin long-sleeved bodysuit for extra insulation. I chose to pair this vibrant sweater with a multi-colored tweed skirt for an interesting mix of texture, and used leather accents with my accessories to add structure and edge. Though also planned on a whim, this look was quite the success in my book and one I would definitely sport again in the future.

DAY THREE:

My third look of the week was the hardest to come up with because the weather was horrible throughout the entire day. I played into the gloomy vibes and ended up styling a fairly dark look, however there were some statement pieces and layering that I absolutely loved (as with both of my previous looks). These 70’s style plaid trousers were love at first sight, and have continued to remain a staple in my Fall/Winter wardrobe rotation. To offset the bottom half of the look, I paired a lace top with an off-the-shoulder- white button down which gave an eye-catching illusion effect to the overall look. I then draped my suede and shearling coat across my shoulders and completed the look with black booties and my leather tote. Despite there not being any sun, there’s something about NYFW that allows you the pass to wear sunglasses in any and every scenario no matter what what the conditions are. I kind of liked taking a more lax approach to this year’s NYFW as it kept me on my toes and also allowed me to fully take in each moment as it occurred organically. I may do a few more events this season but for the most part, it’s a wrap for me until September. Until next time!

Another year has gone by and it truly has been a whirlwind! With all of ups and downs 2017 brought, I can honestly say the amount of growth I’ve experienced in my personal and professional life has left me with a sense of accomplishment I can only help but feel optimistic about. Though no year is ever perfect, staying humble, focused, consistent, and positive are all I can do to ensure the good outweighs the bad. Surprisingly, I may actually be staying in this NYE however that doesn’t mean I don’t have several outfits planned for any last minute events. While I’m usually all about the glitz during this holiday, this year I decided to take a slightly more understated approach and traded my sequins for velvet. This cranberry colored jumpsuit was absolutely perfect for the vibe I was feeling for this New Year’s Eve: comfortable, sexy, yet classy. This piece is also very practical as I was definitely not too keen on the idea of facing these frigid New York temperatures with bare legs. Jumpsuits will always remain a closet staple for me because of how low maintenance they are. They also take the stress out of finding multiple items to coordinate together and allow the focus to remain on statement accessories. Because I still wanted to include a bit of festive sparkle to the look, I chose a pair of rose gold heeled sandals with diamante accents to add an element of glam. To match my footwear, I also incorporated some dainty rose gold studs which I thought added a nice elegant detail. Lastly, to finish off the look, no NYE outfit would be complete in my opinion without a faux fur! I’ve had this particular one for a few years now and it still brings that “sophisticated drama” that I love, whenever I wear it. I really can’t believe that this will be my last post of 2017 and what an amazing year of outfits it’s been! Whether you’ve been following my blog from the beginning or just recently, your support is greatly appreciated and I vow to continue to provide style inspiration and helpful tips well into the new year and if all goes as planned, many more to come! Cheers to 2018 and year 3 of ASM! Stay safe tonight, and see you next year! <3

Of all the textures that seem to make an appearance as soon as the temperature drops below 50 degrees, (faux) fur has easily become one of my favorites. Especially now that the market has become in such high demand for realistic looking furs, retailers have really stepped up their game in creating stand out pieces in basically any style and color variation you can imagine! Below I’ve rounded up some of the outerwear pieces that  have recently caught my eye, so don’t forget to click the images below to shop my picks! Stay warm, and happy shopping!

I think we’re all finally approaching the time of year where everyone is over the frigid temperatures. These days, it’s been more of a struggle than ever to find the effort to remain comfortable, chic, and warm when getting dressed. That said, I’ve been reaching for more basics and staple pieces, rather than going for crazy statement-making garments. For this outfit, I kept it very simple with a sleeveless black turtleneck and my extremely worn-in, distressed boyfriend jeans. This is the perfect look for those days when you literally feel like you have “nothing to wear” or just don’t have the time and energy to waste. On the upside, the great thing about styling classic pieces is that they provide the perfect foundation for layering and/or playing around with different accessories. To add a little personality and edge to this particular ensemble, I added some fishnet tights and my new black flats with an over-sized bow detail. These two pieces alone, easily transformed this look and made it much more fun and put-together. In order to balance out the hints of skin I had showing on my lower half, I threw on one of my favorite neutral faux fur coats for a bit more drama and contrast to the denim. I’ve found that no matter how casual your outfit may be, throwing on a little accent (or a lot lol) of fur will always elevate it and bring an element of chicness. To finish off the look, I decided to incorporate my prescription glasses which I wear a lot more than most people probably know. Whether worn practically or just for style, I love experimenting with different frames and definitely plan on adding more to my collection for the days when I feel like switching up my look. All in all, I think this outfit is a clear example of how less can definitely be more and simple can still be bold. Until next time!

The time has finally come! I am a true lover of faux fur pieces and every year around this time I relish in the ability to break out all of my fuzzy items that keep me looking chic and feeling warm. It is amazing how many brands have expanded their lines over the years and began incorporating many more quality faux fur items. Whether you are a fur fan like myself, or just someone that is looking to experiment with the texture in your wardrobe, you can now find pieces almost everywhere that will meet your trendy needs. Because the coat brings such drama, I chose to keep the rest of my outfit minimal with a cream funnel neck sweater and grey skinny jeans. I don’t know about you, but whenever I wear fur I feel extremely luxurious so I decided to keep that theme going with my Fendi sunglasses, which have a tortoise print that seems to mimic that of the coat, and my Chanel inspired chain handbag. I completed the look with my favorite black ankle boots and was ready to hit the streets! I definitely recommend experimenting with fur if you haven’t already, and if you have, try getting your hands on some fur items that you wouldn’t usually go for like a scarf or vest. Stay tuned, fur season has only just begun!

Although it has been oddly warmer these days, I figured since it is still technically winter, I would highlight some of the fur jackets, coats, and overall outerwear that has recently caught my eye. While I do love a statement fur coat, it is a style that can be too overwhelming for some. If you are a person who is a little more subtle with their fur choices, opt for a coat or jacket with a fur collar, trim, or lining. This way, you can still be eye-catching and on trend while still remaining comfortable and confident. Of course, if you’re like me and don’t mind having all eyes on you,  go for a coat with bright fur or a pattern to completely steal the show! No matter what your style is, there is always room for fur in the winter. Show me how you style it! (Don’t forget to click on the images to shop the products below!!)

It brings me great joy to say that this is the first shoot I’ve done since I’ve started my blog that didn’t involve me complaining about being cold lol. We actually shot this on two separate days, first in the lower east side then in midtown, and both were sunny, warm, and beautiful! Though I am still working on my gym routine, I was delighted to show a little midriff with this furry cropped sweater. I pretty much built this ensemble around the “care bear-esque” looking piece and ended up with a look that was somewhat on the icy side. I loved how the different washes of denim and the baby blue top came together to form a monochrome inspired outfit, without being too matchy.

Have you ever seen a bear and a leopard coexisting in the same environment? Neither have I, but luckily fashion doesn’t abide by the rules of national geographic. This “woodsy” shoot was actually done in a park not too far from my apartment. I figured the warm, neutral tones and textures in my outfit would really pop against the landscape. Aside from the swarming gnats, I really enjoyed this shoot. It brought me back to my childhood when I once dreamed of being a biologist and having my own television show finding new species of animals in the wilderness. That was short lived though, as my love for shoes continued to grow and I realized in order to deal with animals I would actually have to interact with nature lol.
