I wore this look to a networking event a few weeks ago and loved it so much that I couldn’t help but devote an entire blog post to it. For me, this was the perfect outfit for the occasion because it was feminine, classic, flirty, and just all around perfect for Spring. Because the weather can still be a bit unexpected this time of  year, layering is always a safe bet. It also allows you to add dimension to your look while still remaining on trend and chic. I purchased this dress last summer and thought it served as a great contrasting piece to the smart white button up I paired it with. While I’m not the biggest “floral” girl, I tend to gravitate towards prints that contain darker base colors as they are easier to style. The great thing about this transitional period, is that you can make use of your entire wardrobe by mixing and matching pieces from various seasons. Since I was working with such a bold print, I kept my accessories very minimal and chose a black caged heel for a bit of edge. I also opted for a nude colored bag to keep the look light and soft when accenting the floral design. Overall, I was very pleased with how this look turned out and think it’s fitting for many different occasions regardless of what the attire calls for. Dresses are probably one of the easiest pieces you can style, but it never hurts to add an extra layer that will allow you stand out from the crowd and make a few heads turn. Until next time!

Being that we are in the midst of New York Fashion Week, I decided to create a look that I felt represented this exciting time. In my opinion, this is the moment to have the most fun experimenting with different clothing and letting your style speak for itself while showcasing exactly who you are. For me, I had a bit of trouble piecing this look together (believe it or not) as it is slightly out of my comfort zone. Of course, I’ve layered dresses over tops before and worn sneakers with more formal pieces, but there was something about this look that I struggled with. I guess I could say taking a previously worn New Year’s Eve dress and transforming it into a daytime look was a bit bolder than what I’m used to. That said, my main priority and what I feel like is most important when styling yourself, is making sure that you feel comfortable, confident, and authentic. You should never feel like you are putting on a costume or wearing something just because it’s on trend. In the end, I found a way to make this look work for me by toning it down with black accessories and really leaving the dress as the focal piece. I used my leather jacket as sort of a “safety blanket” (lol) and paired it with my most worn choker for some additional familiarity. In efforts to provide a bit more contrast however, I opted for my white backpack instead of my traditional black one. By the time I left my apartment to shoot, I can honestly say I was quite pleased with how this look turned out. From the differing textures, to the mix of casual and more elegant garments, everything seemed to come together pretty seamlessly. Now, my last suggestion in tackling NYFW or just dressing for every day life, is to simply have fun with it because at the end of the day, “life’s too short to wear boring clothes! Until next time!

I can hardly believe that this will be my final blog post of 2016. That said, of course I had to bring a bit of glitz as we quickly approach one of the biggest party night’s of the year. From the moment I saw this cold-shoulder embellished knit I knew it was definitely worthy of a photo shoot, however, I was a bit stumped with the direction I wanted to go in for this look. Because of the top’s neutral color, I had no problem finding other pieces to pair it with; it was just a matter of whether I wanted to dress it up or dress it down. After searching through the archives of my previous looks, I decided to go with something a bit more formal. Metallic pleated midi skirts have literally been EVERYWHERE this season, and though I was hesitant to jump on the trend for that reason, there was something about this skirt in particular that I couldn’t resist. For me, I think it was the fact that the material was similar to a soft suede instead of the typical rigid, foiled texture. Also, though it may be hard to see, I liked the uniqueness of the metallic accents and how they were scattered across the skirt with a marbled effect, rather than the usual opaque coated style. Overall, I loved how these 2 pieces complimented each other and to keep them as the focal point, I chose black accessories to let them shine. I am super excited to see what 2017 has in store and can’t wait to show you guys some of the ideas I’ve been working on. I hope everyone has a fun and safe NYE. See you next year! 🙂

Nothing screams “spring” like floral prints, so for this look I wanted to showcase a patterned piece that made a statement while still maintaining an overall casual and chic vibe. The focal piece, being an over-sized blazer, is actually apart of a co-ord short set, but because the temperatures are still not very consistent and I wanted a less formal look, I decided to pair it with a relaxed fit jean. In efforts to tie in some chic elements, I decided to go with minimal pieces that varied in texture while still remaining timeless and on trend. To contrast with the structure of the blazer, I threw on a satin slip dress and tucked it in slightly to really exaggerate the dainty and soft nature of  the garment. For footwear, I grabbed my leather mules that literally go with EVERYTHING! After deciding against a bag, I still felt something was missing. Surprisingly enough, while being a girl who doesn’t wear much jewelry, I reached for my gunmetal choker as a finishing  touch and to add a little sparkle. I bought this necklace for NYE and I’m quite thrilled at how well it has found a place in my wardrobe. I personally love looks like this, that don’t require much effort but also contain pieces that fit so well together that you may not have initially styled. Well, until next time guys!

One of the biggest reoccurring trends that have been really making a huge statement in fashion lately, has been the 70s. It began with bohemian chic bold prints and flowwy fabrics, which then led to heavier pieces like flared, bell-bottom jeans and trousers. Now, it looks like the next trend in line coming out of this influential decade is the bell sleeve. I’ve seen this popular detail accented on a variety of garments and in styles ranging from slight and subtle to theatrically dramatic. I decided to try out this out for myself and have quickly become a fan! I love the bold sleeves on this minimally chic top, and how it brings so much life, fun, and personality to this fairly simple look. On another note, can we just take a moment to appreciate the effortlessly gorgeous combination of denim and nude? I’ve stated before that I am currently focused on building my wardrobe with classic pieces that can easily speak for themselves, and this top fell right into place. I truly think this is the happiest I’ve been with my personal style and I’m glad I get to share this evolution with you all! To complete the look, I grabbed a nude crossbody bag (since I’m desperately trying to stray away from black) and added a red lip for a fun pop of color. There’s really not much more I have to say about this ensemble except that even by the end of the night, I wasn’t ready to take it off! Until next time friends!

It’s absolutely no secret that during the winter season the best remedy for keeping warm and looking chic is layering. My personal formula for executing layering successfully, is starting with a neutral base and then gradually building upon it with heavier pieces that are among the same color palette. This is exactly the method that I used for this look. I was getting quite bored with feeling obligated to wear pants just because of the brisk temperatures, so I went on a hunt for a thick midi dress that I could wear with tights and my thigh high boots. Once that mission was accomplished the rest of the look came together quite easily. I’ve really been loving the taupe and grey tones this season so those were pretty much the colors I stuck with throughout the look. I loved the look of the ribbed knit texture of the dress against the heavy tan wool and leather on the coat. To add a bit more texture and dimension, I added my cropped fur vest and my favorite scarf. Another crucial tip when it comes to adding layers is taking full advantage of accessories. Hats, scarves, sunglasses, and bags are all easy pieces that you can grab to take your outfit to the next level. With that being said, I finished off the look with my leather cap and go to cross-body handbag. With layering like this, you are guaranteed to stay looking fashionable and feeling warm.

To be honest, I pulled this outfit together at the very last minute; but like most spontaneous things, it ended up coming together perfectly! This look portrayed the three emotions I was feeling on this particular Saturday; casual, comfortable, and edgy. Though it was a fairly gloomy day, I still wanted to pull out some statement pieces, and this grey leather wrap skirt happened to be exactly what I was looking for! I’ve been lusting over this skirt for over a year, so when it finally came back in stock, I knew I had to grab it; and it has become one of my new favorite pieces in my wardrobe. Because the skirt has some length to it and I’m not the tallest girl in the world, I decided to balance it out by keeping the top form fitting with a mock neck, ribbed sweater. To stick with the casual theme, I opted for my white leather converses and threw on my black expletive beanie for a bit of drama and interest. Pretty much any bag would work with this look, but in efforts to keep things minimal I decided on my favorite black leather tote. I must say, I was quite pleased with this look. While it is not something that I usually go for, I may have found a new style worth experimenting with. But that’s what fashion is all about! Taking the time to evolve and break out of your comfort zone to see what looks suit you, brings a world of endless possibilities! Until next time! <3

For my second holiday look, I decided to go for another fairly casual outfit with a bit of flare. If you are not the type of girl who is into sequins and wants something slightly less flashy, metallic textures and prints are a great alternative. Though I am personally a fan of sequins, I know that they can sometimes make a garment too heavy or, depending on the placement, can also be rather itchy. Luckily, during the holiday season metallic pieces are also in high demand and can be found in most retailers. Similar to my previous look, I kept the drama on the bottom with a metallic pencil skirt, so I made sure to keep everything quite neutral. With that being said though, I wanted to challenge myself by not using any black pieces so I accessorized with white and grey. I feel like the shoes and clutch added a bright pop to the look and played off of the “winter white” trend that is also quite popular. In efforts to not have the look be too overwhelming, I wore a plain grey cropped tee and just threw on a statement necklace for a little extra shine. Surprisingly, I really like the idea of more casual holiday looks this year. While floor length, sequin gowns are always statement worthy, I think looks like these can allow for less stress and the ability to be more comfortable while focusing on the celebration. But who am I kidding; I could change my mind by New Years. We’ll just have to wait and see I guess! Lol. Until next time!

Fashion, like many other forms of art expression, can be very fluid and ambiguous especially when it comes to gender. Though I tend to dress more feminine on a day-to-day basis and accentuate a softer, and sometimes sexier side, every now and then I like to challenge myself to style something more rigid and structured. For this menswear inspired look, I decided to pair a stark white button up shirt with medium wash boyfriend jeans and loafers. I find that for menswear, it is best to keep the overall look simple with pieces that have subtle yet striking details. Though this look goes against my norm, I made sure to keep my signature present with an open back detail and my favorite leather tote. I personally think it’s important to stray from the usual way of doing things from time to time in order to promote creativity and keep your ideas fresh. So take a chance and step out of your comfort zone, I dare you! 🙂

To be completely honest, comfort is not always a priority to me when getting dressed. On the off chance I do find myself comfortable throughout the day, I tend to take notice; this happened to be one of those days. At one time, the idea of denim overalls only provoked thoughts of mechanics and life on the farm, however, like most trends, the fashion world found a way to make them stylish. While they can be dressed up, I prefer to rock them on my most casual of days. Due to the beautiful weather we have be experiencing lately, I figured throwing on a mesh top underneath would be a nice way to show a little skin and add a grungy vibe to the look. Once deciding to make white my accent color, I followed suit with my sandals and clutch then added dark plum lip to offset the brightness. I also experimented with my short vagabond booties and they worked quite nicely, without disturbing the essence of the ensemble. I think overalls are another great transition piece when moving from fall to the warmer spring months. Show me how you rock yours!
