Another day, another opportunity to showcase a new monochrome look! I’m not sure what has gotten into me lately, but the thought of styling ensembles around one individual color story has become oddly satisfying. While it is easy to fall into this trend with neutrals, black, and white, I decided to give color a try for more experimental purposes. While doing a bit of online shopping, I was immediately drawn to this paper-bag waist, utilitarian style skirt. From the fabric, to the pocket details and middle slit, everything about this piece screamed street-style chic! After moments of contemplating what to pair it with, I remembered that I actually owned a faux leather jacket in a similar shade that I have rarely worn. I used this as my opportunity to finally break it out of the closet and in efforts to take my olive outfit to the next level, I also purchased a coordinating ribbed top as well. Now, I can understand that for some this may be over the top; however, I was quite pleased with how the subtle changes in color and texture really gave each of these garments a moment to shine while still blending together seamlessly. In efforts to brighten up the look, I added my cream colored knee-high boots which have truly been a wardrobe staple since I purchased them last year. Finally, for accessories, gold jewelry seemed like the most obvious choice to compliment my new over-sized sunnies, and thus the look was complete! Let me know in the comments whether you feel that this type of outfit is bold and fashion forward, or simply out of your comfort zone. Until next time!

When I first started planning my holiday outfits, the main thing I had in mind was versatility. This is probably one of the most social times of the year and with that comes tons of themed parties hosted by a multitude of individuals we encounter on a regular basis. That being said, a look for a night out on the town with the girls, may not be appropriate for the family Christmas party with grandma. Therefore, I ended up with a small series of festive garments that covered events with family, friends, and even coworkers. Stay tuned for the rest that are to come, but for now let’s focus on this cozy, yet chic ensemble perfect for any “relative hosted” gatherings. For this outfit, my plan of action was to start from the bottom up. I had been on the hunt for a pair of brown, croc embossed boots all season! Unfortunately, though they didn’t make it in time for Thanksgiving, I knew I still had to style them before the year was over. What ended up being tricky for me, was the overall color palette. Because I was already starting with such a warm-toned statement accessory, I needed to find a way to incorporate holiday feels into this look instead of just the usual autumnal shades. Just when I was beginning to feel defeated, I happened to stumble upon this sparkly frock featuring a knotted detail and bat-winged sleeves. To my surprise, this dress ended up being the perfect addition to the ensemble, despite the fact that its colors were not traditionally “holiday themed.” I loved that it featured a very feminine silhouette that complimented my boots yet was still festive thanks to the metallic effect of the fabric. In efforts to stay weather appropriate, I couldn’t resist layering a thin dark grey turtleneck underneath for added dimension and most importantly, warmth. To play off the shimmery accents, I chose gold as my metal of choice and added a belt to further cinch my waist as well as a matching ring handle bag. I was beyond pleased with how this look came together, and it definitely put me in the festive mod I felt like I had been missing up until this point. Comment below your favorite part about spending the holidays with family and until next time!

Fashion week is one of the most exciting and hectic times of year, and being that I’m still balancing a 9-5, I must be strategic with how I spend my time. Getting to as many events and shows as possible is always my focus so that leaves little time for showroom appointments and fittings. That being said, it’s no secret that being a style blogger, I shop a lot more frequently than the average person and because of that I usually have no problem finding garments from my closet to wear during this time. My strategy, outside of pulling pieces I haven’t worn in a while or outside of a shoot for my blog, is to create looks that are just slightly more intricate than what I would put together on a “regular” day. I don’t like to go too far outside of my personal style, but rather enhance the things I love and make it a bit more dramatic. Depending on your methods of transportation, dressing for the weather may not be a huge priority, but I definitely try to be mindful of it especially for the Fall/Winter season. For my first ensemble, I decided to pull a dress that I honestly haven’t worn in at least a year. I forgot how much I loved colors in the floral pattern, along with the lace overlay, and cutout shoulders. For added dimension, I layered a sleeveless knit turtleneck under the frock and used a belt to cinch the waist creating the shape I desired. To complete this look, I threw on my chunky thigh-high boots, and grabbed by suede and shearling coat for an extra layer of warmth. The green and gold earrings I selected beautifully complimented the tones in the overall look, and with my ring handle bag I was out the door and on my way!

I was pleasantly surprised on the second day, as a warm front rolled in and I was able to leave the house without an overbearing piece of outerwear. I still continued to play things safe, however, as I didn’t want to risk getting sick. I decided to layer a thin grey turtleneck under a chunkier cream version with a bold Aztec-like print across the chest. I then continued to play off of those warm, rich, colors with a pair of wide-legged corduroys in a similar hue. To bring a more classic and tailored element to the ensemble, a pinstriped blazer seemed like the most obvious choice.  For accessories, I chose a black and white heeled sandal, a leather slogan clutch, and my favorite (and only) vinyl baker boy cap. For me this look was all about the combining of different textures and I loved how it turned out.

By day three I was really on a role and had been absolutely loving all of the outfits I had created thus far. I recently received this tailored boiler suit in the mail, so it was only a matter of time before I reached for it. This look was all about the neutrals, however I still wanted to make sure every piece had its own moment to shine. Again, I grabbed another turtleneck to layer with and continued to brighten the look with my cream-colored calf boots which I am absolutely obsessed with. Remember when I mentioned dramatics?? Well, this was the day I chose to go over the top and bring out my giant teddy coat. This truly was the perfect day for it as the temperatures had dropped again and running from show to show was becoming slightly unbearable. All in all, with a similarly toned bag to complete the look accompanied by a bold dark lip, I felt pretty freakin’ chic and was ready to take on whatever came my way!

Three words: burgundy boss babe! For day four, I totally channeled my inner Miranda Priestly and felt like the fiercest woman on the planet! It’s no secret that blazers, suits, and co-ords have slowly begun taking over my wardrobe; however, this was my first and will forever be a favorite. To keep all of the attention on these beautiful wine-colored pieces, I kept it simple with a black cut-out turtleneck (yes, another one) underneath, and for a pop of interest, my new snake print boots which incorporate the same colors. I wouldn’t say any of my looks were necessarily hard to style, but this one definitely came together the fastest and brought out an essence of sophistication I don’t think any of my other outfits conveyed.

As the week was beginning to wind down, comfort became my top priority so I thought it was time to finally bring out some denim! I definitely wanted to style a more casual look, but with a few hints of glam for a bit of contrast. One can never go wrong with a t-shirt and jeans, but I chose to add a lace top underneath for an unexpected feminine touch. To highlight the red in the graphics on my shirt, I decided to throw on my velvet booties and finish off the look with my grey puffer jacket. Because this is such a bulky piece of outerwear, wearing it open helped to balance the overall look without overpowering it. For an extra bit of glitz, I decided on my chandelier earrings (which I wore on NYE), and my everyday black cross-body bag with silver ring accents to tie everything together.

Last but certainly not least, my sixth and final look of the week featured some bright color blocking and my usual texture mash-ups! I could not close out NYFW without showcasing my latest outerwear obsession, so it was important that I style this look around my new cropped shearling jacket. Following the layering theme of this week, I wore two turtleneck sweaters, both in bright shades which gave a vibrant Spring-like feel. I thought that the juxtaposition of these pieces against leather would also be quite intriguing so I threw on my paper-bag waist trousers to give a more edgy and structured feel to the outfit. I completed this look simply with a black pair of booties and small vintage looking frames. In efforts to seamlessly blend both upper and lower halves of this look, I grabbed my straw and leather cross-body to pull everything together. I was thrilled with how each of my looks turned out and quite proud of myself for not choosing to borrow items or spend additional money for new pieces. Aside from showcasing my personal style, I think it’s also important to show how older or current pieces can be remixed and incorporated into your day to day wardrobe, regardless of whether it’s a special occasion or not. I really hope you guys liked seeing what I styled this fashion week season, and please let me know your favorite look in the comments below. Until next time!

The holiday season is by far one of my favorite times of year, and though my excitement never ceases to dwindle, there are a few things that I tend to find a bit repetitive. Aside from the decorations, music, and events, I sometimes wish there were new style trends to experiment with aside from the typical, metallic, sequins, fur, etc. This year, I decided to make a conscious effort to try out some new things with my holiday looks and so far I feel like I’m off to a great start! While making a point not to stray too far from the festive sparkle, I was thrilled when I found this pair of trousers. The rosey hue added a uniqueness that in my opinion was even more eye-catching than the traditional silver or gold; and I loved it! With each look I style for my blog, it’s rare that there isn’t a point of slight difficulty; and in this case, it was deciding on a top. Because I had my mind set on not creating a look that was blatantly “obvious,” it took me awhile to find a piece that was formal enough while still being a bit unexpected. After going back and forth with two drastically different tops, I made the executive decision to layer them and, “VOILA;” the look came to life! I think the juxtaposition of the lace turtleneck and distressed graphic t-shirt made for the most amazing contrast that somehow meshed seamlessly without disrupting the sleek tailoring of the bottoms. Also because of the blend of casual and classic elements, this is a look that can easily be worn in a variety of settings and stand out amongst the crowd! With so many textures going on, I chose to keep my footwear minimal with a pair of black heeled sandals; and though I didn’t grab a bag, I decided to wear my silver geometric earrings for an extra pop of glitz. This ensemble totally gave me “rock&roll-chic” vibes, and I loved how it turned out.  Comment below if you prefer to keep it traditional or mix it up with your annual holiday looks. Stay tuned for more festive outfits to come, until next time!

It’s becoming more frequent during my shopping trips, that I go in with an exact item in mind that I plan to purchase and leave with something that was totally not on my radar. The skirt I ended up styling, though stunning in its own right, was not the item I was set on buying at the time. In my mind, I planned to style a look that juxtaposed a satin more “Spring-like” skirt with a chunky knit and some form of boot. However, that all changed when I tried on the piece and was displeased with, well…everything. From there I was back to the drawing board and was just about to leave the store when I spotted something that was unlike anything I had ever seen. It took me a while to comprehend the beauty of this rare gem as it had so many unique elements, but after a quick trip to the fitting room I realized it was absolutely perfect! It’s no exaggeration when I say this skirt is unlike anything in my wardrobe. The thin tweed-like fabric, frayed hem, and A-symmetrical shape really make this a standout piece that completely encompasses the Autumn/Winter seasonal vibes. With so many colors to choose from given the multicolored striped pattern, I could’ve paired this item with a few different tops. That being said, I opted for a lightweight charcoal grey turtleneck which really helped to make the various tones in the skirt pop without clashing. I chose to keep my footwear simple as well with my staple minimal black mules. For this ensemble I decided to forgo a bag or piece of outerwear as I wanted to keep all of the focus on this amazing skirt; though I did find a pair of geometric shaped earrings which provided an interesting final touch. All in all, I loved the simplicity of this look and the sleek silhouette I was able to create. It just goes to show how we should never be afraid to stray from our initial ideas, as there may be an even better outcome that we hadn’t considered. Until next time!

I wore this look to a networking event a few weeks ago and loved it so much that I couldn’t help but devote an entire blog post to it. For me, this was the perfect outfit for the occasion because it was feminine, classic, flirty, and just all around perfect for Spring. Because the weather can still be a bit unexpected this time of  year, layering is always a safe bet. It also allows you to add dimension to your look while still remaining on trend and chic. I purchased this dress last summer and thought it served as a great contrasting piece to the smart white button up I paired it with. While I’m not the biggest “floral” girl, I tend to gravitate towards prints that contain darker base colors as they are easier to style. The great thing about this transitional period, is that you can make use of your entire wardrobe by mixing and matching pieces from various seasons. Since I was working with such a bold print, I kept my accessories very minimal and chose a black caged heel for a bit of edge. I also opted for a nude colored bag to keep the look light and soft when accenting the floral design. Overall, I was very pleased with how this look turned out and think it’s fitting for many different occasions regardless of what the attire calls for. Dresses are probably one of the easiest pieces you can style, but it never hurts to add an extra layer that will allow you stand out from the crowd and make a few heads turn. Until next time!

Colorful jeans were a pretty huge trend in the early 2000’s and I can distinctly recall my closet becoming a rainbow of denim, especially during my high school years. Once again however, we are seeing yet another moment in fashion history resurface and fall right back into our wardrobes. Since last year, you may have noticed that yellow has become a very popular statement color, but it’s fellow primary hue, red, isn’t far behind. I never would’ve guessed that I’d find myself gravitating towards a pair of bright red trousers, but I couldn’t resist these fiery beauties. Recently, I feel like I’ve been on a straight leg raw-edge denim binge, so it didn’t take much convincing for me to realize that I needed yet another pair. During the same weekend that I purchased these pants, I stumbled upon these gorgeous black and white buckled heels. It’s so funny sometimes how you can go into a store knowing exactly what you came for, and walk out with something totally different. That said, I personally feel like I made an even better decision and was thrilled when I saw how amazing these pieces looked together. When searching for a top however, I found myself at a standstill. I was completely torn with the style and direction I wanted to go in, so to make things easy I decided on a more “vintage” item that I hold very dear to my heart. I bought this Jimmy Hendrix tee during my first trip to LA when I was only 16 and it still remains one of my favorite items! Even through all of the trends and fashion “rule book” changes over the years, this t-shirt has always found a way to compliment my style and I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it. To finish off this look I accessorized with a gunmetal rhinestone choker and a white slogan clutch for a bit of lighthearted interest. I loved how this look turned out and I definitely plan on making these red hot jeans a wardrobe staple this season. Smart, chic, and timeless are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think of the ever so classic shirt-dress. Whether worn conservatively around the office or casually on the weekend, these are definitely one of the leading garments when it comes to women’s Spring fashion. I was drawn to this dress in particular because of the unique wrap detail that provided a cool layered effect, not typically seen with this style. Though I wanted this piece to be the focal point of the look, it was a little too preppy for my style so I added some edge with an over-sized faux leather jacket. Can I let you guys in on a secret?…..IT’S MEN’S! Personally, I see nothing wrong with taking a peek in the men’s department every now and then because you never know what gems you may find. I ended up scoring big with this jacket that was believe it or not, seven, I repeat, SEVEN dollars. The structure and weight alone had me sold from the gate, but the price made it all the more worth it! Recently, I haven’t had the urge to style handbags so I knew my shoes had to pop. I instantly thought of these bright pink mules I had purchased within the last month and knew they would provide the perfect finishing touch. It’s no secret that I’ve never been the type to like a lot of bells and whistles when styling my looks. I prefer to let the clothes speak for themselves with their intricate details and design.
