I don’t know about you but whenever I’m having trouble deciding on what to wear for the day, I like to go back to my most basic pieces and build from there. In this case, I opted for a classic pair of light wash denim jeans, and a white button up; something I’m pretty positive we all currently own. I also feel like this is one of the fool proof combinations perfect for entering the spring and summer seasons as it always looks refreshing and timeless. On my search to find pieces to complete this look, I honestly didn’t have much in mind but knew I wanted something vibrant and different. It didn’t take long before I stumbled upon a multicolored beaded bralette with intricate embroidered details. Because this piece had so much going on, I figured it would it would be the perfect item to layer over my stark shirt to give the ensemble a bit more interest. Another plus to styling heavily embellished garments is that you can easily eliminate the hassle of finding accessories, as the focus will remain on that eye-catching piece. Though I opted to forgo a bag, I still wanted to complete the look with something that tied the ensemble together seamlessly. I suddenly remembered a pair of satin heeled sandals I had purchased last year that perfectly highlighted the bright tangerine hues in my top; and with that final touch, the look was complete! All in all, this look was pretty easy to pull together and it just goes to show why certain pieces have remained the foundation of a lot of our wardrobes (including myself). At the end of the day you can never go wrong with jeans and a top! So let me know in the comments below how often you incorporate these closet staples into your weekly looks! Until next time!

I love embroidered denim because it’s a fun twist on some of the classic pieces that we all know and love. Whether on outerwear, a dress, or your favorite classic skinny jeans, embroidery always seems to take it up a notch and add an eye-catching element to every piece it graces. Check out the items I’ve rounded up below and don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks! Until next time!

Do you ever feel like certain items were just meant for you? A few weeks ago when I was on one of my regular shopping trips, I came across these embroidered jeans that I thought were absolutely PERFECT in every sense of the word. Unfortunately though, they were sold  out in my size and I had no choice but to leave the store feeling slightly defeated and brokenhearted (cue the violins, lol). Flash forward to just last week while browsing around one of my favorite Jersey malls, I once again spotted these beauties and to my surprise they had my size! Without hesitation I ran to the dressing room to make sure the fit was to my liking, made my purchase, and began planning my next blog post. Embroidered denim has been quite popular among many retailers and I personally love the pop of interest it can provide to many of our favorite classic pieces. Because of the striking nature of this garment, I kept the rest of the look fairly minimal. Another item that is currently on trend and a staple when it comes to street-style is the wrap top. I have seen so many versions of this blouse, it’s hard to imagine someone having trouble finding a style that suits their fashion needs. For this look however, I chose to stick with a more basic design in a stark white so as not to compete with the boldness of the jeans. That being said, I still felt like the top added its own chic elements to the overall look with the tie detailing and ruching around the waist. To finish off the look I slipped on my black mules, a bold lip, and was on my way. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love garments that speak for themselves and don’t require additional bells and whistles to appear complete. With the right pairing, you will ALWAYS make a statement; until next time!

One of the perks of being a blogger, in my opinion, is that you have a permanent excuse to constantly shop. Even if it’s for something that you may only wear once or wouldn’t typically pick up, you can easily make a case for it. That being said, I try to only shop for pieces that I know I can feature on my blog and make permanent assets to my existing wardrobe. However, there are times when I am skeptical about an item but buy it anyway just to try it out; and this skirt was a product of one of “those” purchases. A few years ago, the PVC (or patent) trend was very popular in regards to body-con midi skirts and dresses. While I was a fan of it then, it’s been awhile since I’ve worn something of that particular fabric. All in all, there was something about this skirt that intrigued me and since it was also on sale, I decided to take the plunge. To be honest, this piece sat in my closet for about a month and a half and just as the regrets were starting to creep in I found the perfect top to pair it with. Since we’re finally diving into Spring, I instantly knew that this white embroidered shirt would make for a clean and effortless look. What I loved most about it, of course, was the Asian-inspired back detail that beautifully emphasized the rich red color of the skirt. For the Summer I would not hesitate to pair this look with some crisp white sneakers, but because it still gets a little chilly at times I opted for my go-to OTK boots. To accessorize I kept it very simple with a dainty silver choker to match the exposed zipper on the skirt, and my fringe backpack to keep things casual. This look definitely got me excited for the warmer months to come and I can’t wait to mix and match these pieces withe the other gems in my wardrobe. Let me know what you think of the PVC/patent trend in the comments below. Until next time!

It honestly took me a while to take interest in the mini skirt trend. I’m not sure if it was because my last memories of that garment were being layered over leggings in the early 2000’s (a trend that for the record I NEVER participated in) or if I just wasn’t comfortable styling them. Either way, I have since gotten over it all and my skirt collection has been rapidly growing. It all started last fall, when suede and leather minis were popping up everywhere and seemed to match perfectly with my favorite pair of thigh high boots. Ever since then I was hooked and my obsession began. The skirt I styled for this look is actually my first non-leather mini. I was initially attracted to its bright colors and intricate stitching. I knew it would be a great garment for the warmer months and also useful as a transitional piece going into fall. Because this was the focal point of the ensemble, I kept the other elements pretty simple. I could have really gone with any color shirt, but I slightly stepped outside of my comfort zone and opted for a powder blue button up rather than the classic white. To tie in the dark background color of the skirt, I accessorized with my black minimal heels, a small cross-body bag, and a thick choker necklace. This chic look was perfect because while it is eye catching, it is also simple enough to put together for those sweltering days when even getting dressed is a hassle. Until next time!
