Though I am growing increasingly more excited for the transition into the new season, I could not help but take the next few weeks as an opportunity to crank out any last minute Summer looks I have yet to style. I think we can all agree that the biggest trend so far this year has been bold, saturated color. While I didn’t go too crazy, I definitely added a few pieces to my wardrobe that fit the bill and this skirt was no exception! It actually belongs to a two-piece set but for this particular styling session, I felt that using just one of the garments was more than enough to achieve the vibe I desired. Since I was working with such a bold print, I knew I wanted to include elements that were both complimentary as well as paired down for a subtle contrast. I was initially contemplating a few variations of white crop-tops, but in the end decided to go with the simplest option which was a plain ribbed tank. Along with highlighting some of the negative space in the skirt’s pattern, it also provided a nice balance to the ensemble overall. For footwear, I chose to take a bit of a risk and incorporate my newest pair of heels. From the moment I saw them, I knew they were a showstopper that belonged in my wardrobe. For some, I understand how this pairing could be a bit much, but for me they were absolutely perfect! As if this look couldn’t get any brighter, I took it a step further by also opting for a pink crossbody bag which really took things to the next level. As a final touch, I threw on some silver framed sunnies and jewelry to match the hardware on my accessories and keep them cohesive. I’m not sure if I’ve ever worn an outfit packed with so much color, but I truly enjoyed how it turned out and feel like I can officially go into Fall with no regrets! I’ve probably never put an outfit together faster, that I liked as much as this one! I purchased the boots first and had been waiting for the perfect time to style them. While I wasn’t set on a specific direction, I knew that I wanted to style them in a contrasting way (per usual) against more feminine pieces. What initially caught my attention, was the white piping along a seam of the shoe, as well as the bright blue tab that added an unexpected pop of color. To highlight the stark accent detail, I had pretty much come to the realization that a white frilly dress of some kind was exactly what I needed. Turns out, when it was actually time to do my shopping, I was feeling tremendously under the weather; thus, I made the executive decision to pick one store and not leave until I found my entire look. Now, I’m sure this sounds a bit crazy and overwhelming– IT WAS! I had no idea what I was walking into and hadn’t done any previous online research to see if the store I selected even had pieces that fit my vision; turns out, they did not. At this point it was crunch time so after leaving the fitting room line and putting back a cream-colored dress that I wasn’t very fond of to begin with, I began brainstorming a new plan. At that moment I remembered I had seen a sheer white tunic a few weeks prior, so I quickly located it as soon as possible. By this point, I was starting to get excited because although I had to forgo the frock idea, I was still able to pick up a garment that had the dainty feel I was looking for. From this point, things were much easier as I just needed to find pieces to wear underneath this see-through number. After taking a few more laps around the store, I came across a satin bralette and a table full of denim shorts. Initially, I was leaning towards the obvious choice (which was black), however I decided on the grey distressed version as they were softer and didn’t take away from harsh contrast that the patent booties brought to the look. Lastly, I felt like a bag was needed since I didn’t see any jewelry that really fit the theme of my ensemble. Unfortunately, this was also a bit of a challenge because most of the accessories either didn’t have silver hardware to match the metal accent on the heel of my shoes or were just completely inconsistent with the style genre. Finally, I came across a bright yellowish-lime green cross-body that seemed perfect, yet slightly random at the same time. Though very different in color, it appeared to be the same tone as the blue on my boots which complimented them quite nicely. Overall this look, though rushed, turned out to be one of my favorites for the season! I challenge all of you to try and style an entire outfit from just one store of your choosing, without using any of the pre-styled mannequins for reference (just for fun of course). Until next time!

Honestly speaking, the idea of going to a festival of any kind has never really appealed to me; the long lines, poor cell phone reception, lack of seating, and let’s not forget that I am on the shorter side. That being said, when I was contacted by the lovely team at Calvin Klein to style a few pieces from their festival edit collection, I was ready and willing to take on the challenge, and style a look that reflected my personal style as well as the iconic brand. When I think of CK, themes of minimalism, comfort, and all-around essential wardrobe staples come to mind. I also wanted to make it a point to select pieces that could easily serve as the foundation for more elaborate looks that may be transformed to fit any number of the Summer festivities that are quickly approaching. In short, I didn’t think I could go wrong with a classic pair of denim and a simple top. Though the “mom jean” has really taken off as probably the most popular fit at the moment, I decided to throw it back to an old favorite of mine; the boyfriend jean. In my opinion, this relaxed style truly captures the essence of the CK brand and gives a nod to the effortless style of the 90’s that I personally love. Instead of opting for a signature slogan tee, I was pleasantly surprised to see a bodysuit featuring a cross-strap keyhole detail on the back that gave the most flattering silhouette. I was instantly sold and thrilled that each piece, though fairly plain, had unique eye-catching elements that made them pop in the subtlest way. To dress up the look a bit more, I decided to add a blazer; however, this wasn’t just any blazer, it was a menswear blazer kindly passed down from my oh-so-generous Father. Any oversized piece of outerwear would have sufficed, but I was drawn to the gorgeous floral printed lining and felt that it was an unexpected touch that gave a fun, seasonal flare. To complete the look, I opted for white heeled sandals, gold earrings and frames to match the metallic clasp on the shoe. All and all, while understated, I was pleased with how this look turned out and encourage you all to head over to the Calvin Klein website to spruce up your Spring/Summer wardrobe with versatile pieces for every occasion! Day 4 started off very grey as the weather was definitely not on our side. During NYFW looking chic pretty much trumps any ounce of practicality, however since the rain came as an unwanted accessory I chose to style an ensemble that had elements of both. After strutting around in heels the last 3 days, I was more than happy to throw on a pair of leopard print booties. To keep up with my theme of incorporating bold colors, I added a red patent leather mini to the mix, and a cream colored open back blouse for a more delicate touch. After grabbing my over-sized leather jacket and cat-eye frames (despite the lack of sunshine), I was ready to head to my first show of the day by the brand, Nonie. It was quite the coincidence that the designs incorporated similarly structured elements to what I was wearing, as well as more feminine pieces such as silk blouses and vibrant wrap dresses. I could honestly picture myself in every garment displayed from this collection and am excited to see what new creations the upcoming seasons bring.

After taking a break for brunch and catching up with more familiar faces, I was able to get a behind the scenes look at all of the preparation that goes into setting up for a runway show. This was my first time going backstage and to have the opportunity to do so before the Ruby Fang presentation, was beyond exciting. Surprisingly, though there was so much going on from making up the models, steaming the garments, and rehearsing the actual order of the walk, there was also a calmness among the room which gave a sense that everyone knew exactly what they needed to get done to have a successful production. I honestly still get amazed by all of the genuine connections I’ve made just from being a part of the blogger/fashion industry and I’m truly grateful for the experiences I’ve had thus far as well as the knowledge I’ve gained along the way.

My last day ended with another fashion week favorite of mine, Dan Liu. He always incorporates theatrics and creates a true story with his shows that make them truly memorable and for me, the perfect note to end my NYFW on. For this show I wore my boldest outfit yet; a bright magenta suit paired with red sneakers and sunnies to match. I layered a lace top under the suit and for maximum color saturation, added a hot pink bag to finish the look. This may have been my most enjoyable season because I told myself from the very beginning that I would not stress myself out. I made it a point to only take on what I could handle and if I missed a show or two, I didn’t allow the fomo or guilt to consume me. It was due to this mindset that I was able to get through the week relaxed and level-headed from start to finish. I’m definitely looking forward to what February has in store as well as the possibility of checking out a few new cities for fashion week next year. I hope you enjoyed my recap and until next time!

Each year, as I continue to grow as an individual and a brand, I like to showcase the new facets of my life and have it reflect in the content I create. This year more than ever, I’m trying to maintain a firm grasp on my goals, block out the noise, and stay focused. One thing that has definitely helped me to do that, was incorporating a gym regimen into my weekly routine. I don’t think a lot of people realize how important exercise is to not just your body, but your mind as well. Though true, I’d be lying if I said it was always easy forcing myself into the gym especially during days when I feel the most exhausted. For me, music is a huge necessity when exercising as it really allows me to get lost in the moment and forget any ounce of lingering stress, even if it is just for an hour or so. I am so grateful that I was offered the opportunity to collaborate with a brand that creates premium quality headphones for every scenario life has to offer. Sudio is a Swedish brand, whose main objective is to provide studio quality sound through various styles of earphones made for any occasion. As a resident of NYC, I find myself reaching for my earbuds most often while on the train, in the gym, or those late nights in my apartment went I don’t want to disturb my roommates. Luckily, their sleek styles and practical construction, allow for an overall experience of high quality technology as well as an elegant accessory for your day to day style. I thought it would be cool to switch things up by pairing my new Regent headphones with an active wear ensemble as it is something I have never done, and because fitness is slowly but surely becoming a consistent part of my life. I loved how the gold accents brought out the detail in my leggings, and the wireless design allowed them to be easily functional with no hassle when taking them on and off. I chose the classic black because to me, they were the most timeless and can be paired with anything whether at the gym, or on the go. Sudio was also generous enough to provide me with a 15% off coupon code: ASTYLEDMIND, that is valid forever on all of their products and add-ons. Please let me know in the comments below if you’re interested in seeing more lifestyle posts in addition to the style blogs we all know and love. Until next time!

With the temperatures in the northeast finally starting to consistently feel like Spring, I thought it was only right that I take advantage of the warmth and sunshine and break out a few new pieces I’ve recently purchased. It’s no secret that the ruffle trend is literally EVERYWHERE and not going away any time soon. Retailers and designers have done an amazing job creating pieces that can suit the style of the more subtle fashionista, to the most dramatic. Since I find myself to be somewhere in the middle,  I gravitated towards this flowy blouse with layered, ruffle sleeves. While this piece came in many different variations, from button-up options to even A-line dresses, the movement and simplicity of this top had me sold. The great thing about white tops is that they can go with just about anything; the downside however is that it leaves you with endless options when trying to style an outfit. After a few weeks of pondering, I came across this beautiful cream colored, woven skirt and fell in love! This piece incorporates so many of my favorite details, from the length, to the laced up drawstring, and raw unfinished hem; I just couldn’t resist! Because I wanted to tailor this look to our current season and not go too Summer-y, I decided to style it with ankle boots instead of any open-toed footwear. I loved how the brown tortoise heel added some warmth to the ensemble while still contrasting nicely with the lighter tones. To complete this look, I threw on a hot pink cross-body bag for a fun pop of color and was ready to roll! I was actually pretty shocked by my interest in this bag as I’m usually not the “pink,” type of girl. That said, it’s always nice to step outside of your comfort zone every now and then and try something new; you might be surprised. Until next time!

As I knew this was going to be my first blog post of the Spring, I wanted to make sure I styled something weather appropriate and fun. I like this look because it is composed pretty evenly of items that I already had in my closet, and a couple new pieces to freshen things up. I recently bought this shirt-dress and really didn’t think much about posting it on my blog; that is, until I found this belt. Within the last 6 months, I’ve really seen the corset belt trend take off. Whether paired over a t-shirt, blazer, or dress, you name it; this trend is definitely not slowing down anytime soon. Personally, I’ve never been much of a belt person but I also never shy away from trying new things. When I saw this piece during one of my shopping trips, I instantly envisioned this top and began building the ensemble in my mind. I decided on the white accessory because aside from moving into the warmer months, I felt like it provided more of a challenge than the usual black options. I kept the rest of the look pretty simple and sleek with black leather leggings and pumps. As we all know I love adding dimension with different textures, and the smooth matte finish against the lighter fabric of the top provided the perfect contrast. At this point, I knew the look was almost complete but I still felt like there were a few elements missing. I decided to play off of the navy stripes in the shirt as well, and added a dark denim choker for a bit of edge and a light puffer jacket as an extra layer. In all honesty I totally forgot about this jacket, which I’ve had since college, but the navy blue sheen provided the most amazing final touch to tie this look together. I must say, after shooting this outfit, I am beyond excited to see what inspiring style and trends this season brings. Until next time!

If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I am a true holiday fanatic! The weeks leading up to Christmas is probably one of my favorite times of the year, and living in New York I get my full share of the holiday spirit. I am a sucker for all of the decorations, lights, and most importantly the shopping! Though this is not necessarily a “holiday look,” I wanted to show my excitement by doing a shoot in one of the most festive areas of the city: Rockefeller Center. This area truly becomes like something out of a Christmas Carol during the holidays and with the annual tree lighting happening tonight, I just couldn’t resist! Now on to the outfit. This look is minimal and in my opinion consists of a lot of basics that anyone could already have in their closet. The purpose of this outfit was to show that simple pieces can still make a statement. I was beyond excited to debut my satin detailed vest that I was lucky enough to get from the Balmain x H&M collaboration, even after the site crashed. To add a little texture and edge to the look I grabbed my favorite distressed jeans but still kept the look refined with a crisp white button up shirt and closed toe pumps. To me, you can never go wrong with looks like this because they always bring an element of “chic” to any occasion. So are you as pumped as I am for the holidays? Make sure that no matter what your plans are, you enjoy time with your loved ones and look fashionable doing it! 🙂

Ok guys, I have a confession to make. I think I might be (faux) leather OBSESSED! Leather has always been one of my go-to fabrics when the temperatures begin to drop but this season my love for it has reached an all-time high and I simply just can’t get enough. I have to literally stop myself from ripping every leather item off the racks and running to the register with it, sad I know. For this look, being that it consisted of three statement leather pieces, I had to strategically assemble it so that it was not overwhelming. In my opinion, a good way to successfully wear items of the same fabric at once is to make sure that the pieces are spread apart and/or differ in color. I attempted to practice both methods in creating this ensemble. Because it was a warmer fall day, I was able to use my bare legs as a barrier between the green leather mini and the leather ankle boots (tights or fun socks could also be added on cooler days). I also added a light grey men’s turtleneck (thanks Dad) to brighten up the look as well as separate the leather texture of the backpack against the other pieces. This look was simple, chic, and comfortable; an all-around fashionable win if you ask me! Unfortunately, I don’t know how I’m going to get past my leather addiction but the first stage is acceptance…..right? 😉

As fashion week continues and the energy continues to surge, here’s what to expect: more shows, more running around, and more outfit changes. My only piece of advice would be to live in the moment and take everything you can from the experiences because before you know it, it will all be over and the purpose of getting dressed will be slightly less exciting. I wanted a relaxed yet striking look for this particular day, so I went with the ever-so-popular Calvin Klein sports bra and a fringe mini, both of which are highly on trend. To keep the simplicity I threw on my single strap mules, and baby blue leather jacket (which I have featured before) for a nice pop of color to end the summer.

As we know, I am definitely a heel-girl and though they are not always the most practical, they certainly can help you stand out. With that being said though, if you don’t have the luxury of having a chauffeur I would strongly advise a comfortable pair of shoes because the city streets will definitely take a toll. Since the 70’s trend and all things “fringe” are very popular at the moment, I paired these playful heels with an abstract printed frock for a more sophisticated and chic look. Remember, during fashion week it’s all about making a statement so strut like you mean it and stop traffic!

For my last day of NYFW festivities, I made my rounds in Soho then checked out a few shows at Milk Studios. Though we got a late start and the sun was going down, I felt completely satisfied with all that I had seen during this hectic week. In my backless button up and striped trousers I felt incredibly comfortable and stylish for this final evening. Surviving New York fashion week is definitely something I can check off of my bucket list and I am beyond excited for what next year brings. So long for now.
