It’s officially “coat season” and at this point, my only goal is to balance a level of comfort, warmth, and style. It’s always so funny to me, how every year it seems like cold-weather pieces hit retailers entirely too soon, but before we know it we’re in the midst of Winter still complaining about not having the gloves, scarf, or outerwear we wanted. This year however, I was determined to just go for it; and though at the time I felt like it was too early to be purchasing a coat, I’m so glad I did! I had been eyeing this blue plaid number for at least 3 weeks before pulling the trigger. Aside from it being eye-catching due to the bold color alone, what really sold me was the overall fit! It’s very easy for long wool coats with belted closures to fall into that “bathrobe-esqe” category, especially when they’re over-sized. On the contrary, this piece was constructed beautifully and executed a level of tailoring that truly shined through as soon as I put it on. As this coat was the focal piece, I wanted to layer more neutral items underneath that would only enhance it in a complimentary way. Since there were black accents in the plaid design, I chose to use that shade as well as white for an overall contrasting color palette. I had been gifted this off the shoulder frock during the Summer and decided to use it as an anchor for the rest of the ensemble. From there, I paired it with a striped turtleneck for added warmth and dimension. Lastly, for footwear, it was no-brainer to throw on my slouchy OTK leather boots and silver accessories for a bit of shine. The fact that we have roughly a month left until 2020 really has prompted me to exist in a state of reflection and gratitude. I am thankful for how far I’ve come, where I am currently, and where I’m going despite the hardships that may arise along the way. Comment below your favorite piece from this look and what you are most grateful for. Until next time!

The time has come and we are FINALLY beginning to see some signs of Spring approaching. I don’t know about you guys, but I have had my fair share of Winter blues and am ready to pull out some light jackets, flowy fabrics, and most of all COLOR. To my surprise, I was contacted again by the lovely representatives at Who What Wear and was graciously given the opportunity to select a few pieces from their new collection. I am personally a fan of this brand as a whole because it always seems to find ways to incorporate the latest trends in a wearable way that suits everyone from the style vets, to the fashionistas in training; not to mention the prices are also a bargain! The first piece I decided to style out of the two I was gifted, was a double breasted striped trench vest. Since I was working with such a neutral color scheme and versatile print, there were quite a few options floating around in my head at first glance. Initially, I was planning to fasten all the buttons and wear the garment like a dress, with hopes of finding a dainty blouse that could be layered underneath. After browsing the stores however, the top I had in mind was nowhere to be found and I wasn’t too keen on how the outerwear piece looked as a frock, even with the belt tied tightly around my waist. So it was back to the drawing board, and plan B was put into motion! Since the trench was so long, I thought it would be interesting to add a wide-legged trouser that could essentially streamline the look and give the illusion of an elongated frame. It didn’t take long before I stumbled upon the brightest sky-colored trouser that instantly reminded me of a sunny Spring day without a cloud in sight. The pants also came with an O-ring belt detail which gave a nod to the utilitarian trend that has recently become popular. I decided to keep things simple with a black sleeveless turtleneck sweater and white heels to tie in the stark stripes. Lastly, in efforts to add an unexpected touch, I finished off the look with yellow cat-eye frames for some subtle primary-color-blocking. I honestly felt like this was a great transitional look to launch into the new season, and I can’t wait to show you guys the other piece I styled from the Who What Wear collection. Until next time!

As we approach the Spring season, it was imperative to me that I started introducing lighter hues into my wardrobe. When shopping for this look, I was shocked to realize that I didn’t own a pair of white jeans and probably haven’t for quite a few years now. Needless to say, when I came across this pair of denim culottes, I instantly knew that they would be the perfect foundation piece for this ensemble. As a shorter girl, I’ve always found this style of pant super flattering and effortlessly chic. Recently, I’ve also noticed lighter more muted shades of blue really making a statement in various retailers and after much back and forth, I decided to pair my trousers with a thin sea foam colored roll-neck. While this color is a bit out of the norm for me, I liked the uniqueness of the shade and the versatility it can bring to number of pieces already in my closet. At this point I was slightly at a standstill because I had two very simple pieces but nothing that really tied them together to create a cohesive outfit. I then remembered an item I had previously seen in a store I had been browsing in earlier, and to my surprise it was the perfect addition! This cropped corduroy jacket is definitely not something I could’ve imagined myself picking up initially however, it really brought a nostalgic element to the look as well as color-blocking– a trend I typically don’t find myself gravitating towards on a regular basis. For accessories, I decided to reach for a cool-toned grey backpack which I felt meshed well with the overall color scheme of the ensemble and some mixed metal hoops which played off of the ring detail on the bag. Since the entire outfit was pretty light as a whole, I chose to finish it off with my favorite pair of black minimal mules for a bit of balance. Though there were many elements that took me out of my comfort zone with this particular look, I was pleased with how it turned out and happy I took a few fashion risks along the way. I think it’s safe to say that I may actually have a leather jacket in every color; and to be honest, I really don’t see this as an issue. As my personal style began to formulate, I realized that there were always two key pieces that I gravitated to when putting together any outfit: outerwear and shoes. For me, both of these pieces are where I make most of my statements, especially since I’m not the biggest accessories girl. To me, this look is the perfect example of how to add a pop of personality & elevate a simple look with one item. Leather jackets are known for adding a bit of edge but when worn in different colors, can also bring a softer element. When creating an outfit, the loudest pieces don’t always have to be used.  Sometimes, subtle differences like the two textures in this dress, can still add to an interesting eye-catching ensemble.  Are you willing to be daring?

It brings me great joy to say that this is the first shoot I’ve done since I’ve started my blog that didn’t involve me complaining about being cold lol. We actually shot this on two separate days, first in the lower east side then in midtown, and both were sunny, warm, and beautiful! Though I am still working on my gym routine, I was delighted to show a little midriff with this furry cropped sweater. I pretty much built this ensemble around the “care bear-esque” looking piece and ended up with a look that was somewhat on the icy side. I loved how the different washes of denim and the baby blue top came together to form a monochrome inspired outfit, without being too matchy.
